In “The Fingerprint of Destiny” Schofer tells an intriguing story with a mixture of magical realism, detective sleuthing, and an intimate struggle with personal demons. As we journey through the days and nights of Ellie Sinclair, the protagonist, the reader enters the mystical world of Ellie’s ancestors while seamlessly experiencing her current adventures as a journalist.  Who or what shapes us? Why would an arsonist work their way through a small Long Island town? Why can’t Ellie conquer her drinking? “The Fingerprint of Destiny” is a compelling story that the reader will find hard to put down.
