Overview

The Fire Starter Sessions: A Soulful + Practical Guide to Creating Success on Your Own Terms by Danielle LaPorte

The Fire Starter Sessions is an apathy-kicking, integrity-infusing guide to defining success on your own terms.

Danielle LaPorte’s straight-talk life-and-livelihood sermons have been read by over one million people. Bold but empathetic, in The Fire Starter Sessions she reframes popular self-help and success concepts, including:

- Life balance is a myth, and the pursuit of it is causing us more stress then the craving for balance itself.
- Being well-rounded is over-rated. When you focus on developing your true strengths, you enter your mastery zone.
- Screw your principles (they might be holding you back).
- We have ambition backwards. Getting clear on how you want to feel in your life + work is more important than setting goals. It's the most potent form of clarity that you can have, and it's what leads to true fulfillment.

I received my book yesterday and I can't put it down, I am so "fired up" already and I am only 25 pages into the book! Thank you for your passion and authenticity, I can't wait to share and give numerous copies to family and friends, loving you back for sharing/bearing your soul.

Inspiring. Fresh. Invigorating. This is an excellent book- though I wish I would've bought the hardback because I want to write all my notes in the margins. The Nook version cuts out some of the information (sidebars and inserts) and loses the impact of the layout which reinforces the message ... though I love having it on-the-go. The perspective is fresh and invigorating - plus there is a lot of online support to further your experience.

I highly recommend The Fire Starter Sessions for any creatively minded person who feels like they're stuck in a rut, or not living the life the want to be. Danielle LaPorte writes with fire and passion. Take notes in the margin. Underline. And get ready for great change in your life!

This book is poorly organized, the text is chaotic, and the concepts presented are trite. Huge font size is used liberally to, apparently, create a bigger book and make up for the lack of information. (Huge font, as in three or four words per page, or a single sentence per page. Lots of white space in this book.) Within the genre of self-help books there are many others better than this one. I took a flyer on it because Kris Carr recommended it, but I'm sorry I bought it.
