The Forest of Bricks by Sean Battle, Joseph Assasin Thomas

Seeded as a coming of age journey rooted in seven words--water, women, movement, family, community, love, and survival---this full-length collection of poems is a single sequence bop in which, "all spaces are seen as safe and satanic." No matter how sheltered one is in childhood, or whether their walk is inner city or suburban, there is no avoiding that which contributes to growth, be it blessing or lesson.
