Loved this book, it’s very well written and the characters are very well-developed and have believable dialogue. The plot is interesting and there is a lot of tension between the main characters. With lots of drama and twists and turns I was perpetually changing my mind to who the killer was. Lots of suspense that made me want to turn those pages as fast as I could to find out what was going to happen next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was hooked on this book from the word go! I devoured 30% of the book on my lunch break and then had to go back to pesky work, I know right! Whilst I was working I kept thinking about this book, all night I was thinking about this book until I got the chance to finish it. What a story! Now, this is book two of a series which I didn’t realise and the author puts a note to say you need to read the first book. Erm..confession time I did not read it, but I found you could read The Forgotten Ones without reading the first book. I, however, want to read the first one because I loved the intensity with Caitlin and Dean and I need to read more about the other characters! I mean I also want book three now!!! Not going to lie, there were a couple of cringe-esque bits in the narrative and some of the dialogue between Dean and Caitlin, which did make me giggle and a couple of steamy sex scenes. Yet, it didn’t distract me from the book, all I wanted them to do was hurry up with the horizontal dancing so I could go back and catch a serial killer! But I definitely shipped these two, despite all the heartache. The killer is a dark twisty one, luring both the MCs back to Dripping Springs in Texas, somewhere which is now on my bucket list to visit (if it’s a real place obviously). I thought I was clever and guessed the killer really early on, everything pointed to said person and when I was shown who it actually was, I had to re-read it a couple of times as my jaw had smacked the floor hard! I was not expecting that reveal for sure!! You can feel that the race is on with this murderous spree ramping up quick! What is the significance of the bodies being dumped in certain sites? Why the nail polish? Why the chess pieces? All lead to an interesting answer and a completely bat-shit crazy person! So much I want to say about the story but I won’t. The writing sucked me in straight away, so much ambiguity in the characters, teasing and encouraging you to keep reading. Snappy chapters from Caitlin, Dean and occasionally the dark mind of our killer, all enticing you to keep reading. So I did! I found it such a great book to pick up and it was an easy read, albeit dark and viscous at time. All the while leading you to a point of no return and leaving you thinking about the book constantly…Well, I did!! Plus when you learn why the book is called The Forgotten Ones and why the front cover is the way it is, well it might just break your heart just a little bit! All I can say Ms Bills nailed it!! So when is the next one coming out? I need it like now!!

The Forgotten Ones is a follow up to Hardwired where we continue to follow Dean and we are introduced to Agent Caitlin Cade. This is a romance/ murder mystery played out in cat and mouse fashion. There is a serial killer loose in Agent Cades' home town and she is in the killers sights. Dean Campbell is Agent Cades' old flame; can the past be overcome and what about the killer? This was a brilliant read; great writing and love the characters. Recommend reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

When Dean was introduced in Hardwired, I knew whatever his story was it was going to be a rollercoaster of emotions and it does not disappoint. This romantic suspense is Dean’s story of love, loss and a killer bent on revenge and destruction. Drawn back to their hometown by a killer who stages the victims to send them a message, Navy Seal Dean Campbell and his ex and FBI agent Caitlin Cade must put their past aside and work together. For Dean its easy, he’s there to help solve the case and win back the only woman he’s ever loved. Caitlin wants nothing to do with Dean as a partner in the case or in life. His duty caused him to leave her before and she’s not willing to give him a second chance to do it again. Working together to stop the killer, both will have to come to terms with the past, survive the present and believe in the future. The past where all of this began and a killer who seems to know it as well as they do. The present where every murder and every clue is more gruesome than the one before. The future a question mark, because they must both survive first. When the killer strikes too close to Caitlin, Dean makes a phone call and has himself put in charge of the investigation. After securing Caitlin in a safe house Dean thinks he can focus on solving the case until she sneaks out and heads right into killer’s plan. Dean finds himself in a race against time to figure out the killer’s identity, find their location and rescue Caitlin. What is he willing to do or sacrifice to ensure the safety of the woman he loves? Dean and Caitlin are the couple you root for and want to see not only survive but find their way back to each other. Both are headstrong, stubborn and determined to stand their ground, will their battle with each other get in the way of the stopping the killer? A killer that is methodical, in the choice of victims, their death and their discovery, who is not playing by any rules but their own. In a small town where everyone knows everyone and everything about you, the killer could be anyone. The ending is completely unexpected and will leave you shocked. Andrea’s detailed descriptions, explanations, and vivid story telling make this story come to life. By the end of the book the only question remaining is how long do I have to wait to read the next book in the series?

I wish life wouldn't get in my way of reading. This book is one you really don't want to put down. There is so many twists and turns throughout this book, your not sure which end is up. Dean and Caitlin are high school sweethearts until she needs him most. That was years ago and she's tried to move on. Dean couldn't tell her then why. He is back now to make her his again. The serial killer that brought her back home might just bring them back together for good. Oh! And the killer! The suspense that leads up to finding the killer? Holy edge of my seat and shortness of breath! I never saw that coming! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
