The Gage by Anita Renaghan

In Washington D.C., a breakthrough tiny robotic nanoparticle has been developed to read chemical imbalance in the human brain. One scientist has secretly combined the nanoparticles with embryonic stem cells, and implanted the mixture into an unassuming patient, Air Force One mechanic Remy Bittner. The nanoparticles begin to awaken unused parts of Remy’s brain, and he discovers that he can read minds.

Elsewhere in D.C., pharmaceutical magnate Dean Kane hopes to corner the patent market on this newest cutting edge science and is trying to manipulate the President into passing a law allowing bio-nanotechnology to be used on the human body. While Remy attempts to learn the cause of his new mind reading skill, he becomes hunted by Kane and the misguided scientist who implanted the nanoparticles. Remy’s life is turned upside-down as he begins to uncover the political forces working against him, and the discovery of a plot on the President’s life.
