The Gatekeeper's Trilogy: Books 1-3 of The Gatekeeper's Saga by Eva Pohler

A young adult fantasy about the ancient gods in modern times.

A teen becomes entangled with the gods of Mount Olympus when Thanatos, the god of death, wants to meet her. He makes a deal with his father, Hades, to go to the upperworld. The deal requires that a murder be avenged with the help of his sisters, the Furies.

Part paranormal romance and part adventure story, this trilogy follows Therese's adventures as she struggles to overcome the challenges the gods give her in her quest to become like them.

This series was initially written as a trilogy and can end with the third book, or you can keeping reading through all six. This box set includes the first three books only. Follow Therese's adventures as she strives to become a goddess in the ancient Greek pantheon.

About the Author

I write fiction for teens and adults and teach writing and literature at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I live with my husband, three kids, two dogs, and two rats (Katniss and Prim, of course). I'm also an avid reader and book reviewer. I've always said I never want to give up reading for writing or vice versa. I want to do both. My favorite authors are Tracy Chevalier, Ann Patchett, Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth, Rick Riordan, and Stephanie Meyer. I have too many to name, but those are a handful of them. When I'm not spending time with the family, working, reading, or writing, I can be found watching The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, The Middle, and NCIS. I love to interact with readers and have recently added features to my website at http://www.evapohler.com with this in mind. If you email me your art and/or stories based on The Gatekeeper's Trilogy, or on Greek mythology in general, I will post them on my website for others to enjoy. I have also added a short video on the Olympians and a fun Jeopardy Game to test your knowledge. Please visit my website for more details. Thanks for taking the time to read about me and my writing!

A great start in this series. All 3 flowed smoothly, characters were well developed, and a page turner. You will love these books. Now I'm off to buy the other 3 in the series.

This has become my favorite trilogy as soon as I finished the first book I just wanted more. This trilogy draws you in and makes you fall in love with the characters so quickly and just rooting for them. I would recommend this book to anybody! Eva Pohler you are just an extraordinary author and I love reading your books and I can't wait for more!

I really loved this series! The story pulls you in and you really get to know and love the characters (especially Than, he was an amazing character)! It is a great love story and filled with a lot of action and adventures. The characters also face death, loss, and trials that give the story depth and feeling, not just them breezing through and you being able to predict what happens. I binge read the series because I didn't want to put it down, and am now sad there isn't a next book to read. I highly recommend this :)

(This review containes a spoiler to some of the other books, so read with caution)It was a great book, that had lots of romance, gods, and horses. In one of the later books Therese and Thantos end up having twins, and they seem like such great parents!

Eva Pohler is an amazing author and this set is the PERFECT way to initiate yourself into the world of Greek Mythology! This is the saga all about Therese and how she met the gods, fell in love with one....then works to become of herself! I LOVE IT!!! Every page will reveal more and more attention to detail that she has incorporated into the story. I loved reading each and every book in the set, and found myself starved more more as I got to the end. I believe I read the entire series by reading one book a day! This is a YA friendly book and I suggest it for ages 12+. Everything is tastefully handled and there is no reason for readers of ALL ages to start today!

These books are an amazing, enthralling read. They have everything from love and life to death and despair. They may be marketed for young adults but really they are a nicely woven tale that any age will enjoy, from a new teen to my 78yr old parents. If you enjoy a good plot and story line, Greek Mythology, or just something you can sink into look no further!

The Gatekeeper's Trilogy is the first three books in the EPIC Gatekeeper's Saga. It is absolutely my favorite YA Mythology series. It's such a fun ride to watch the main characters Therese and Than meet, fall in love, grow up and evolve into amazing people. Eva's writing is very easy to read and she will draw you in from the first chapter on. Her attention to detail is fabulous. She is a genius at weaving Greek Mythology and modern life effortlessly. The characters are all very strong and realistic so we can relate to them easily. The God's personalities make it easy to fall in love with them from the beginning. This is a series you will want to read more than once, so do yourself a favor and dive in to this magical world!

The Gatekeeper's Trilogy by Eva Pohler is a box set of the first 3 books in the Gatekeeper's Saga series. These books are a fascinating read - they manages to entwine Greek mythology and modern life. I have always been a fan of mythology and I love reading about the gods and goddesses and how they can fit into modern times. The books impressed me because they were well researched and gave a lot of respect to mythology. I loved the characters that Ms. Pohler created in these books. Therese was such a strong character and a wonderful protagonist. Than was so serious and sweet and devoted to Therese. I loved seeing how Than grew to understand humans as he spent time with Therese in the mortal world. Ms. Pohler develops such realistic characters in this trilogy and easily helps you to feel and understand their emotions. I also loved the personalities that Ms. Pohler gave each of the gods and goddesses. I've always loved Poseidon and I loved his interactions with Therese. If you enjoy romance and action, mythology and magic, then you should definitely read this book.

Stop what you're doing, and read this series now!!! This is absolutely one of the best series I have ever read! The books address a lot of serious issues, without getting too heavy, and the mythology in it is great! I absolutely adore the way that the Gods of the Underworld were finally portrayed in a positive light! Eva Pohler will have you falling in love right along with the main character Therese. A must read for anyone who likes mythology, romance, depth, and/or adventure!!!

Book 1:  I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology so when I stumbled upon this book I had to check it out to see what it was all about....WWWWEEEELLLL let me tell you that I am so happy that I did!  I love how Eva combines modern day with that of the Greek Gods.  The Characters, Theresa and Than are so great together and make such a great storyline.  Eva does a great job at describing the people, surroundings and events Book 2:  Therese has been away from Than for almost a year and life hasn't been easy.  Than has however been trying to find a way to make Therese a god without going against the promise he made to the God's.  In the grand scheme of things Hades has agreed to help in making her a god if she completes a series of challenges that basically Therese is destined to fail. This book picks up where book 1 left off and I have to say that I am absolutely loving this series!!  I feel in love with Therese and Than in the first book and their struggle to be together.  This book is a continuation of their strength together and their will to find a way to be together forever!  I Book 3:  Book 2 left off with Therese finally becoming a god and you would think life would be good for her and Than..nope now she must find her purpose and if she doesn't she will become mortal again. Then to top this off Ares is after her...life as a god just isn't easy LOL I absolutely love this series and as it goes on I am loving them even more.  Just like the previous two books I didn't want to stop reading.  I need to find out what will happen to Therese and Than as well as what those pesky and not so pesky gods would do.  I absolutely love the different personalities of the gods and how well Eva combines them into the modern world.

This trilogy is phenomenally well written. The descriptions are spot on, while remaining quite enthralling and entertaining. I love that this novel is mythologically, historically and scientifically accurate.  I also like the fact that Pohler includes a variety of Greek gods in her writing, rather than simply using the Olympiad as so many authors attempting to write about Greek mythology do. And Pohler doesn't just attempt to write a world based on Greek mythology. She succeeds. Pohler has not only researched her facts with respect to mythology, but with her novel as a whole. Even the trail riding and equine aspects of this novel, where present, are factual. It adds an entirely new level to the story, making it even more complex and enjoyable. Pohler manages to seamlessly blend mythology with reality to create an awesome world for readers to get lost in. Pohler is very detailed in her writing. Everything is precisely worded to convey a specific thought, feeling, or image. Each and every word seems to have been carefully chosen to build a cohesive overall picture. Everything is vivid and extremely well laid out. She creates a world that you can imagine yourself walking into. I also appreciate the differentiation in writing style between Earth and Olympus. Everything on Olympus is much larger and more elaborate than Earth, as it should be. Her writing also sports an intensity rarely seen in a YA novel, while also giving you some very good laughs. The characters in this novel are quite well developed. You may not know their entire life histories, but you do get to know everything that is pertinent to the story and to let you get to know the characters. It was very refreshing to read a story by an author who can differentiate between necessary development to create a well-developed character, and giving an entire life history that slows down the storyline because it isn't actually relevant to the plot.  Not only that, but character development continues with leaps and bounds throughout the trilogy. These individuals grow and mature the way that normal high school students do, even if some of them have challenges or fears that most of us will never face.  Overall, her character development is unique in that the characters, regardless of their age, learn and admit things about themselves as we learn them. Self-growth and realisation is a never-ending process in this story. These novels combine into one fantastic trilogy.  I felt a sense of completeness at the end, even though I can see the opening for further stories and still want more time with these amazing characters who have wormed their way into my heart.   This mythologically infused trio of stories is a fantastic escape from reality for YA lovers of all ages.
