I was intrigued by the premise of this book, but very disappointed in the construction. The characters of 1860's were fairly interesting but the current cast and simplistic writing style gave me flashbacks of a grade school primer of Dick and Jane. The last few chapters felt as though they were thrown together in a rush. These eBooks should come with tags indicating the audience reading level....this one would be "Tweens and Under." The author should stick with children's books as that group would likely give this a much higher rating. Very, very disappointed and I LOVE to read!!!

This book is a beautiful love story. I love the way the book moves back and forth from past to present. I can read it over and over again. I hope they make a movie!

I read this book given to me by the author, Philip "The Rogue" Rogone, years ago. I recently revisited it and felt all the old emotions wash over me once again. Rogone explained to me the idea he got for writing this book and that made me fall in love with it even more. If you ever get the chance to meet him, please ask him too! This tale of romance and love will leave you hoping for the characters to have their hearts healed and to have your own heart ready and willing for love to find its way back in. I am an avid reader of all genres and this book definitely made me a fan of a good love story even more so. I recommend anyone with even just a day to dive in and read this thing cover to cover! (And as my review headline suggests, keep your tissues on hand!) As others also wrote, keep tabs on who you lend it to because it might just change more hands than you thought, but that's a GOOD thing! Enjoy! :)

This is truly beautiful and moving love story that should make anyone yearn for that once in a lifetime soul mate that so few of us are able to find. In this short but emotionally packed novella, Rogone has dramically written a story line that includes elequently written love letters, many twists of fate that are entwined through many lives and spans a hundred years. Emotionally exhausted at the end, this left me yearning for more by this new and engaging incredible author.

This is a great read. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I don't usually read love stories, because I don't like all that fake mushy stuff that authors tend to use in their descriptions of romantic encounters, but this book wasn't like that at all. The author developed a story that transports you to the time period and you feel as if you are connected somehow in the charactures lives. I would recommend this book to everyone. It is what I consider an easy read, but has a story that is captivating enough to hold the attention of any age. It would be a great first time love story for young teenage girls, because it does not go into sexual details like many love stories do today. It is a love story of pure innocence and depicts love the way it should be the way we would like it to be for our own children as they grow up 'without the war of course'. My 13 year old daughter will be reading it next. I am sure she will enjoy it as much as I did. I can't wait for this to be made into a movie.

Many years ago I was giving the nickname ¿The Hardman¿ because at the time it was a good description of me. As fate would have it I was introduced to this most monumental book of love! Had it not been for that introduction I would have missed the opportunity to grow in such a way I thought was lost to an old soul like mine. This book in my opinion is a true and classic love story that will move the reader to laughter and tears. This book reminded me of the love I¿ve taken for granted these many years. This book will move anyone, rich or poor, black or white, cruel or kind. This book would make an absolutely beautiful and wonderful movie. Freeman H.

I read The Gettysburg Ghost in a couple days. The love story captures the hearts of the people during one of the most tragic periods in U.S. history in a simple yet profound manner. This is not the typical formula seen in love stories!

There are no words to describe the emotions envoked by the words written page to page, chapter to chapter. This book moved my very soul and touched my heart deeply. You find yourself laughing, crying, mourning, anguishing, and loving with the characters. I simply couldn't put it down! I have since bought the book for several of my friends and read it numerous times. Do yourself a favor and buy more than one copy! If you lend it out, you won't get it back!

This book is definately a page turner. I loved the characters and the way I thought about the book even when I wasn't reading it. It was a interesting read because you get a historical feel for Gettysburg and the events that took place and how people's lives changed by both loss and gain. I laughed and I cried. I would recommend this book for any age, as it is very engaging. It also goes on my shelf for me to read again! Loved it!

I thought that this was a wonderful love story told in such a way that I never wanted this book to end. I want to know more about all the characters and their lives.

This story captured me from the first page, in the fields of Gettysburgh, to the streets of New York. What happens with a love that is centuries old, one that was betrayed by a trusted friend, enflamed once again by the mere presence of a familiar face? Warning: keep tissues handy, as this story may tug at the heart.

A beautiful love story. I'm a man and I cried. Ha! It's a timeless love story that won't make you feel like you are reading a greeting card. Loved the time period and everything about this book. Actually a good gift to give someone, I'm buying a copy for my mom and sister. Hope they do a movie or something with this book. Can't wait to read the next great story by this author.

I read, I cried, I laughed, I cried again. The characters came alive and jump off the pages of time. The book is filled with emotion and 'only what if's.' I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I recieved this book as a gift and being a huge fan of love and romance I started to read the first pages late one night, before I knew it I was crying and hopeful that things would end up as they should... and they did. True romance can come in the most unexpected places even in the hazy battlefields most of us have forgotten. Phil Rogone has a wonderful sense of what a woman wants in her heart and a wonderful sense of what it should feel like! I have had this book for a couple of years and have shared this story with all those who are in love with the idea of love.

I love this book because it's more than a timeless love story, it's a dream, a memory, a tale worth telling... an instant classic. The author, Philip N. Rogone, manages to transport the reader into another time and place without all that sappy romance novel lingo and simply tells a Story that will change you. What a gem. What a find! Beautiful!

As young children Daniel Sutherland and Sarah McKee met, fell in love, and knew one day they would wed. Their plans to wed would be delayed when war broke out and the call to serve and preserve the country Daniel dearly loved beckoned so with promises to write every day Daniel went off to fight. At first the letters came regularly then after some months went by without word from Sarah, Daniel learned from a new recruit that back home he¿d been reported as killed. What shocked Daniel most was that Sarah had wed his best friend so soon after hearing of his death. Terribly hurt and bereft of hope the inconsolable Captain Daniel Sutherland bravely led his men in a battle in which he was mortally wounded. He died in Trostle House where his spirit remained as he couldn¿t resolve the conflict of why Sarah, whom he loved so dearly and thought loved him, would have married so soon after hearing of his death. ************** Some 140 years later a very sad and beautiful Lindy Dennsison and her friend Jane arrived at Trostle House for the 136th Annual Gettysburg Reenactment. Having just come off of another failed relationship Lindy had decided to start life anew. However, she could never have imagined that the ghost she encountered in her room would reach out and teach her the true meaning of love. ************* There are times when I am simply at a loss for words, when beautiful, gorgeous, heartfelt, and memorable just aren¿t strong enough to describe the feelings that a story suggests. It took me a while to read through this short novella because of tears that streamed down my face caused by the sheer emotional intensity of writing that this beautiful love story evoked. Mr. Rogone¿s writing was pure poetry. The letters from Daniel to his beloved Sarah were so heart-wrenchingly beautiful that I had to re-read them several times through tear-filled eyes. While Daniel and Sarah¿s story was so heart wrenchingly sad, Rogone ventured further in picking up the various threads of other peoples lives and weaving them all together in one believable story to bring forth the truth of that long ago betrayal. In so doing he brings new hope and love to those in the present. This was a truly beautiful and moving love story that should make anyone yearn for that once in a lifetime special soul mate that so few of us are able to find. Rogone will not disappoint with this dramatically moving, memorable and engaging love story. If you are in love or hope to be some day, this would make the perfect gift for that very special someone in your life, or just as a gift to yourself. ********* Marilyn Rondeau, RIO - Reviewers International Organization

I bought a signed copy and began reading it while on a vacation. I was hooked by the first couple of pages...I could not put the book down. Reading it was like watching a movie the shift from different time periods and scenes was amazingly smooth and kept me anxious to get back to the last scene then sucked me into the current one...I have read this book twice already then loaned it out and had a problem getting it back...I love this story

I bought the book in Gettysburg signed by the author. He told me it was a love story and boy was he right. I was brought to tears by chapter 2 and found myself laughing and crying joyously. Its a two day read but I will read it again and again
