However, he isn't interested in the women who were picked for him, he has his eyes on one of the ranch's employees, Alexis Kelly. Alexis isn't looking for a man, she's too busy trying to earn money and forget about her failed marriage. Author Jan Romes has done it again with this delightful Christmas romance The Gift of Gray. Fast-paced, witty, warm and spicy are just a few words that describe this entertaining novel. Jan knows how to pace a story to keep you turning pages and her use of dialogue is genius. If you love quick-witted, cute and warmhearted romance stories, you just can't go wrong with a Jan Romes' novel. Truthfully – I think this is my favorite of all her books so far!
Reviewed by JoAnne Book provided by the publisher for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book After having read One Small Fib by Romes I was looking forward to reading another of her books. The Gift of Gray did not disappoint. It drew several emotions out of me – laughter and tears – but was ultimately a feel good story with a happily ever after. I love that it was set at Christmas and that Alexis and Gray clicked immediately even if it seemed like they got off on the wrong foot. Their chemistry was so hot I thought they would self destruct at times or have their sheets, bed, etc. combust from the heat they threw off. I liked that Alexis had such good friends looking out for her and that Gray could give her the family she’s always wanted. There was friendship, romance, love, hurt, anger, frustrations, misunderstandings and a quirky premise but the storyline worked and drew me in and kept my interest from the first page to the last. My only disappointment was it was only 99 pages. It ended too quickly and I would love to know how their lives continued once they went back to New York City. I look forward to reading other books by this author and will be adding her to my TBR pile. Give her books a try. You’ll be glad you did! Favorite Quote: …The truth that Gray fooled around with her because he hadn’t found anyone else interesting enough to occupy his time was a hard blow to dodge. Another selfish reality made her feel even worse-Tish and Jeb were kind enough to give her a job. They trusted her. And she’d broken that trust by messing with one of their clients. Alexis leaned against the shower door and pulled the plug on her emotions.
Gray won my heart, even though he made you want to hate him! He was crabby, and hard to get along with, but he he had a heart of gold buried somewhere in there. It just took Alexis Kelly to dig it out. Faced with drowning in a sea of debt Alexis takes a job at her best friend's Mistletoe Ranch, where the rich came to find their perfect match. When she finds Gray on her massage table she wants to run, far, far away. Fun ensues and some steamy love scenes to fog up your glasses fill the pages of this great read. Once again I read this one late into the night, just to get to the grand finale, a happy ending! The Gift of Gray belongs on everyone's holiday reading list because it fills you with the holiday spirit and leaves a big ole smile on your face!
