The Goat and The Waterman

‘The Goat and The Waterman’
Simon Carter

A chance to go on living...

In a not too distant future, Doc Waterman is feeling his mortality. Age has caught up with him and his failing body will not sustain him for much longer, so Doc is driven to the precipice of a very strange decision. Moral ambiguity aside, Doc has decided to put his name forward for the Biomalicha transplant. The Biomalicha are a species of whale-like creatures, genetically designed and engineered. Their bodies are made from cold blood, bone marrow and enhanced white plastics, corrupted by metal engines and great propellers that launch them into the skies. For a hundred years the Malichian vessels had been Mercury’s answer to deep space travel, the creatures acting as cargo containers. In order to control the Biomalicha, the Biomalicha need to be fused together with a human brain, an irreversible and high risk operation to allow human and genetically designed creature to fly as one.
Together you may roam the stars in peace...
---
With The Goat and The Waterman, Simon Carter delivers an often dark and twisted sci-fi that serves both to entertain and enlighten. When an elderly human (Doc Waterman) decides to extend his life courtesy of a dangerous operation, we’re not sure how much of Doc will survive...
