My parents gave me this book for Christmas when I was about 5 yrs old, in the late 70's and I LOVED it! The pictures are so detailed and realistic, almost like works of art - they really make an impression on a child and capture their imagination. It's much better than the typical 'cartoonish' type Bible characters you see pictured in most children's Bible books today. To this day, I still associate certain Bible stories with some of the pictures from this book, i.e. the Flood & Noah's ark is one of my favorites. Also, I like that the stories are accurate and true to the Scriptures, and have not been twisted to promote any particular viewpoint or religion. Unfortunately, my copy of the book got lost somehow over the years. And now that my 5yr old son is interested in books and Bible stories in particular, I began searching for this book online. I didn't know what the title was or even who published it, but with a little research, I was thrilled to find it was still in print and still popular. My son LOVES all the pictures and will spend up to an hour at a time engrossed in the book - he even takes it to church, and all the other kids gather around to pore over the pages. He's had the book for about 6 months now and still never tires of it. And much to my surprise, even my 2 yr old son requests this book for storytime in the evenings (although I edit quite a bit of the stories down to fit his attention span). So I would definitely recommend this book for children of all ages (and even a few adults! - Hey, I'm 31 and I still enjoy looking at the pictures! ha) I have even started giving it as a baby gift for expectant parents.

Even though our family bought this book for a friend's daughter, we all took turns reading some of it before we gave it to her as a present. It was very entertaining to all of us!! It is an excellent first bible for children in the 7 to 14 age group

My 9 year old daughter received many gifts for Christmas but her favorite by far was this Bible. She reads it all the time. She says the stories are interesting. This Bible also promotes spiritual discussions. Since my daughter loved her Bible so much, I purchased another one for my niece for her 8th birthday and the response was the same.

I received this book as a child myself in the '70s. Although I didn't read too much as a kid, I did read this book. I still remember reading about Sampson several times over... The book is pretty much set up as the Bible, chronologically. It had great pictures and most of the stories were short enough that I didn't get overwhelmed. The Bible has many stories to teach children. Its a great way to get children to start understanding what God is saying in the Bible.

This book was selected as the text for our church Bible School. The children, teachers, and parents alike love the book.

I received this book from my God-parents when I was very young. It has wonderful pictures, and the readings are very close to a translation, without all the reading which is unnecessary for children so that it flows well, and is easily grasped.

I received this Bible when I was baby in 1986. It was my very first and favorite Bible of all time. My mother used to read it to me during bedtime upon my request until I was old enough to read it myself. I still have my original copy and plan to pass it down to my first born when I'm blessed with children. I searched for this Bible to buy for my god daughters and other family members as there aren't any children's Bible that are as detailed as this one. I'm so happy that this Bible is still circulating over 20 years later. I definitely recommend it. This Bible is responsible for teaching me about God at a very young age.

I love this book. I learned how to read from this book when I was 3 or 4 and I've been looking for an original to give to my daughter for her third birthday.

In 1984 I made my First Communion. A family friend collectively gave me an earlier version of this book as a gift, which I kept with me for more than 20 years until it was ruined by time. Last year I found this exact same version and I purchased it, only to have it lost when I moved. I will be buying it again soon, and THIS time I'll have it under lock and key in my library. EXCELLENT book! If you want your little ones to get to know the Bible, this is the perfect book for them! The artwork is epic, akin to anything you'll find in The Louvre.

This book is a great way to start introducing young children to Bible stories. The illustrations are beautiful, not that new computer style but those traditional paintings. I enjoyed reading through it, and even not use it for toddlers.

Wonderful edition, a must. The artwork is very well done which is important considering that most probably, the pictures will stay in your child's mind way into adulthood. For study purposes, I'd prefer an ESV translation to the simplified language we find here, but this translation is very suitable to familiarize a child with the "stories".

My son wanted this book for his girls,as his brother has the original. Just a different cover. The pictures and words are geared for little ones. My dad also enjoyed it when he would visit.

I remember reading many of the Golden Books Bible stories as a child growing up, so I am excited to be able to share these stories with my grandchild.
