What would it be like to be the top public relations person as well as top manager for a large corporation? That is how this book describes the job of state governor. Many practical facts are included such as the prerequisites of becoming a governor, terms of office, and responsibilities of the job. Also included is information about the colleagues of the governor such as the secretary of state, comptroller, treasurer, and lieutenant governor. However, in spite of a detailed overview of the office of governor, misinformation is presented. For example, Kathleen Kennedy did not lose the Maryland gubernatorial race to Parris Glendening as indicated in the book. That election was lost to current Maryland governor, Bob Ehrlich. As a result, I would be wary of the other election facts presented in the text. A table of contents, glossary, and index are included, as are web links to visit for additional information on the topic. 2004, Kaleidoscope/Benchmark Books, Ages 8 to 11.
