A highly uplifting book for those who have recognized the malaise of the last couple of decades, but failed to perceive the cause: an entitlement mindset among a growing segment of the population. The older generation (my generation) enabled this mindset by failing to challenge our children, who in turn allowed their children to progressively wither. Mr. Smick offers many suggestions to reverse this trend, and champions the results that might be expected to accrue to those who get on board. I'm betting that following his prescriptions will produce a tsunami of change and a renaissance in innovation and productivity that will amaze and benefit us all. But we cannot leave this to others. We must truly internalize the truth that "if it's to be, it's got to be me...".
