Rediscover an American classic! The Greatest Thing That Almost Happened by Don Robertson is an emotionally resonant, wonderfully evocative journey back to the early 1950s that reintroduces readers to a teenaged Morris Bird III, one of the most endearing characters in contemporary American literature. Fan Stephen King puts the first book in the Morris Bird III trilogy, The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread “on the same shelf as Catcher in the Rye and The Outsiders,” and calls Don Robertson “one of the best unknown novelists in the United States.” Find out what you’ve been missing with The Greatest Thing That Almost Happened.

I too wish Don Robertson was still around to be writing more of these amazing books. I also wish I had discovered them way before I did. The Greatest Thing That Almost Happened is the 3rd in a series about a boy growing up. After I read these three, I couldn't get enough of his books. All are 5star material. I should say there are a few that are unavailable. Once again, read his books!
I cannot get this book off my mind. Impressive, is to say the least. You've got to read all three in the series. What a shame that Dan Robertson is not around to write more. This is a book that I will definitely reread in the future and recomend to all.
