About the Author

Writing and reading are my passions! My dream to be a writer began, when as a five year old child I would ask my mother to write down the stories I would make up about talking dogs.

Since growing up and becoming further educated with a Bachelor's Degree in English (I have an affinity for classic literature), a Master's Degree in Leadership, and a Degree in Ultrasound, I have begun to pursue that dream in hopes of one day making it my career. I have many interests and ideas so my ultimate goal is to release works of fiction in multiple genres. Fantasy will always be my first love however, as I have always had an intense imagination that threatens to inundate me if not expelled onto paper.

I currently have six published books: an ongoing fantasy series with four installments so far (and a fifth one coming soon!), a fantasy short story, and a suspense/thriller short story. Several of my books have won awards, but the first book in my fantasy series, The Grey Eyed Storm: The Occuli, Book One, has now won multiple awards which is very exciting!!

Aside from writing, I enjoy physical activities like running, weight training and yoga. I am blessed to have an amazing family, close friends and two beloved canine companions.

More information is available about my ongoing series at www.theocculi.com and on my author website at: info49133.wix.com/christiemstenzel. Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite The Grey-Eyed Storm by Christie Stenzel is the first book in the Occuli series. Remy Verbetta had been just twelve years old when her mother, Emmery, had taken her own life. Her nine-year-old sister, Makayla, had vanished without a trace soon after. On her eighteenth birthday, Remy is not only given a necklace which her mother had always worn, but also discovers (after sleepwalking to her mother’s grave) that she is one of the seven varieties of Occuli, easily identifiable by eye color, each with a variety of powers which can affect others as well as the elements around them. As an additional birthday gift, Remy receives a bodyguard from her cousin, Ruby, in the form of a boy, Zias, whom Remy had been having dreams about for quite some time. At school, Remy finally meets the new boy in town, Drake Cook, and cannot help but be startled by his eyes; it is never good to know that a Reaper has arrived. Unable to determine whether Drake is good or evil, and trying to decipher her mother’s and her grandmother’s memories, Remy finds herself in a race against time to figure out who she can trust in order to save her kind from obliteration. Without a doubt, The Grey-Eyed Storm is one of the most in-depth and entertaining paranormal books I have ever read. Christie Stenzel’s introduction to the Occuli series leaves me desperately wanting more and I look forward to reading the rest of the series when it is released. Living in a spiraling world of heartache after her mother and sister are both gone, the main character discovers on her eighteenth birthday that nothing in life is what she thought it to be. As her powers come into effect and she finds out who and what she truly is, Remy spins through a pinwheel of emotions that strike without warning, making her wonder whether or not she is going crazy. Each of the characters is well-written and brings an important element to the story as a whole, whether good or evil. I fully enjoyed The Grey-Eyed Storm and recommend it to all die-hard lovers of the paranormal who enjoy mystery, humor, romance, adventure and excitement in a mind-bending tale of magic which eclipses all others.

This book is extremely well done. It is a descriptive yet complex story with well developed characters. It made me feel like I was right there in the middle of the action, which there was plenty of. I enjoyed it very much and will definitely read any future sequels.

The author has created an intriguing story here, which pulls the reader in right from the start. We discover things about the main character Remy's past, present and future at the same time as she does. When Remy is questioning everything - as readers we are right there with her and doing the same. Trying to make sense of and to navigate through a seemingly predestinated path for Remy. I enjoyed the relationship between Remy and her sister Violet. At one moment, Remy would take the high ground and want to protect her and then in another moment, she felt envious and even jealous of her. This attention to detail by author Christie Stenzel made the world for her characters real to me. I did not expect the ending, but to me that is the sign of a talented writer. Definitely recommended!

THIS IS A MUST HAVE BOOK!!! This book is off the charts awesome!!! It is very descriptive and made me feel like I was right there in the middle of the action! I have talked to quite a few people who were completely enthralled with the book as well! I think if it is not made into a movie it will be the public's loss!! Can't wait for the sequels from Christie!!

Emmy’s mother Emmeril took her own life when Remy was twelve. Then her sister Makayla is missing without a trace soon after. At eighteen Remy is given a necklace her mother had always wore . Remy also finds out about her roots and she learns she is one of the seven varieties of Occuli also her social standing which is told by the color of the Occui’s eyes. Each has a variety of powers which can affect others but also the elements around them. Then her cousin Ruby gives her a protector named Zian as a birthday present. Remy’s aunt and cousin will take on Remy’s training now that she is eighteen.Remy had been having dreams about Zian for a long time. Then Remy meets the new boy in town - Drake and is startled by his eyes. Drake is a Reaper. Remy has little time to figure out who she can trust . I loved this story , it was a great read. It had a great plot and writing. This was a very original but sucessful story. It was fast paced and very in depth. This story had a lot to it: humor, romance, adventure, excitement, suspense, magic, a Reaper, trust, destiny, twist and turns, loss, a protector, mystery, intrigue, hidden worlds, and danger. I was surprised by the ending but it did pull everything together. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this story and I highly recommend.

This story is very unique, definitely nothing like I’ve read before. There were details enough to understand the premise, and just enough characters to not lose track of them. The story leads you towards one thing, but the ending was unexpected and I think that’s my favorite part of the whole book!
