This novel is based on the short story with the same title published over one year ago (of which I can still see one review below... don't understand why). Although the novel has taken some key elements from the short story, it has changed a lot! It explores in detail important historical events and masterly shows how a small change in one of most famous battles of the 1800s in Europe can affect our present. 'The Guns of Napoleon' takes Victor Sirkov, professor of History at St. Petersburg State University, expert in Napoleon's history, on an extraordinary journey through time.  He is sent back two hundred years through a natural wormhole, and brings his personal demons with him.  Thrust into a world very different from the one he left behind, he must fight for survival during Napoleon’s fateful, and bloody, conquest of Russia.   An apparently insignificant interference in the past will strongly affect the course of history. and our present.

A time travel short story ... starting in the bleak russian countryside and ending up to an unexpected future. Enjoyable reading during a lazy summer afternoon or a winter evening in front of a fire-place. And with interesting twists...
