From the moment your eye catches the tragic picture on the cover of the book and your hand reaches out and touches it’s grainy feeling cover, you realize “The Hard Road” is no ordinary book. Immediately upon reading the first page you are drawn into the true-life story of Michael Pruett and the calamity he and his family were thrown into. In just a blink of an eye their lives are turned upside down and they find out what true love and commitment is all about. The author draws you into each character and paints such a good picture of what each one is experiencing as the tragic events unfold and how love and dedication of good friends and family can get you through anything. A great read and leaves you feeling inspired, hopeful and knowing God allows all things happen for a reason.

Michael Pruett has written a very readable and thoroughly engaging book with many wonderful lessons about the importance of family, friends, and faith when confronting incredible adversity. What impressed me the most about the book was the author’s honesty and openness. It takes a lot of courage and humility to write a book about coming to terms with a personal crisis. Not only did he endure a horrendous and painful setback, he learned to appreciate that he could find meaning in being vulnerable and chose to share his experience with others.
