Overview

How do you keep going forward when hope and a miracle are nowhere in sight? From the dust and rubble of Ground Zero on 9/11, Clarence Singleton takes readers on a harrowing emotional journey to hope and starting over. From the jungles of Vietnam, where he was awarded a Purple Heart, to the ash of that unspeakable day in our history, from a hard-scrabble childhood, to a new marriage and the promise of a loving future, Singleton never quits, never gives up. Even facing post-traumatic stress disorder, where every crowded mall or sound of a helicopter sends his body signals that it's time to "fight or take flight," Clarence still puts one foot in front of the other, through his deep faith and abiding sense of duty, to move forward to a miracle. The miracle is each day--and it's a lesson we all can follow. Don't quit until the miracle happens. For Clarence Singleton, each new day is the start of a journey of faith, hope, and love.

I found it very hard to put down once i started reading the first pages. This is a wonderful book filled with an  inspiring message to everyone who needs an uplifting account into the darkest day in American history since Dec 7th 1941. It is a "Must Have" for all Military & their families as well as Firefighters and others who struggle with day to day events when your thinking you can not go any further.

This is such an awesome read! This book is more than just a great autobiography, it's an experience. Clarence displays incredible tenacity throughout each and every struggle while constantly keeping his eyes and heart on the needs of others. This aptly named book inspires each of us to be a "hero" in our daily lives.

This book is absolutely amazing. By far one of the best books I have read. To be able to know this American Hero from my church, he is  just amazing. There is one part in this book that him and I share in common. In one of his chapters he mentions that after the 9/11 attacks, whenever he looks at a clock the time always seems to say 9:11. I have that same thing happen to me from time to time. Whether is morning  or night I will look at the clock and the time seems to say 9/11 and even though I wasn't at "ground zero", whenever I see that time I go back,  to that day and everything that was happening. It also has some different instances where you know that God sent angels down to earth on that fateful, to see what I mean you have to read this book!!!!
