The Hidden Reality by Stephen Martino Like book 1 in the series, this book is so well written, just so very smart. Martino breaks down the science and tech to a language that I could understand. Behind all of this is a really great plot, very well portrayed characters, and a pinch of a love story. Alex Pella is a well rounded character, brilliant, courageous, and kind. The battle scenes are terrifically written, to the smallest details. The mystery is deeply woven and ends in a solid cliffhanger. Obviously, you certainly must read book 1 first, but be prepared to lead right into book 3. *I tried, but unfortunately I was forced to drop a star for editing. A book this large, with such huge dramatic scenes, should hold up under even the most minor scrutiny.

Fantastic Story. I love a book that takes the reader on an adventure over different time periods. Stephen Martino has done a fabulous job putting together this wonderful story. It was very unpredictable, which I always enjoy. There’s nothing better than reading a book that can keep you guessing. You can’t help but like the character Alex Pella, and what he goes through. Alex had done some amazing things to help the world, but he certainly didn’t agree with how ‘The New Reality’ were running things, especially with them keeping an eye on everyone by bio-tagging them. When Alex places the crown on his head that Albert Rosenberg left for him, he is initially very confused and disorientated when it seems like he has been thrust back in time. He quickly works out though what he can do to diminish the power of the New Reality. Initially he would have no idea that he would be fighting in an army of Macedonians against the Persian King Dariaus, to get to the key that he would need. However there are those in the New Reality that aren’t going to give up that easily, and Alex is certainly going to have a fight on his hands. I know how much I’m enjoying a book, when I want to spend every waking moment reading it, and this is certainly one of those stories. The Author has certainly put together a very entertaining read, along with a great plot, and a very diverse range of characters. Easily worth the 5 star rating.

Reviewed by Anne-Marie Reynolds for Readers' Favorite The Hidden Reality (Alex Pella) by Stephen Martino is a gripping thriller. The world is in the grip of the New Reality, the controlling power that rules over all since a plague swept the world, killing more than a billion people and bringing governments to their knees. Alex Pella is an inventor and a brilliant doctor who finds himself caught up in a power struggle between the one who rules and the one who would. Alex is determined to bring down the New World Order, but his journey to do so reveals more than he ever dreamed. Alex is about to find out the truth about himself, about his genetic heritage, truths that he perhaps would have been better off not knowing. A message from a man who has been dead a long time puts Alex on the path to defeating an ancient enemy, a 2500-year-old enemy that has long since been forgotten. Can Alex bring about the destruction of the New World Order before it’s too late? The Hidden Reality (Alex Pella) by Stephen Martino is an enthralling read. Set a little in the future, the story is an action-packed thriller with plenty of twists and turns along the way. It is a fast paced story, but the way it is written ensures that you know exactly what is going on, when and with whom. This is the second in a series but I felt, not having read book 1, that this one could easily stand alone. There was enough background to help me understand the story, and the character development left me knowing exactly who I was reading about. This is something of a unique story, a combination of the ancient worlds and the future – an odd combination but it truly worked. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good action story with a touch of science fiction thrown in for good measure, or anyone that just wants a rollicking good read.
