Truly enjoyable. Fun Christmas read. Characters that I could identify with. Lovely descriptions of the animals acting exactly as animals do. Looking for more of her work.
It was a nice Christmas Story
Excuse me while I SQUEEEEEEEEEEE! This book is so cosy and adorable it left me with a feeling of contentment which I wish I could contain in a bottle and get a little bit out each time I need to feel comfortable. I was rather dubious reading a 'Christmas' book in September but there is a lot more to this than that, yes it does gently guide you towards the festive season but the whole story is set in a very short time-frame with a huge amount of action. Close friends Daisy and Flo have both had a rather awkward moment with their respective men so the third in the trio Anna comes up with the ingenious plan .. swap lives and re-discover themselves. As the title suggests it's a holiday swap, set between glamorous city life and the countryside. I loved the Barcelona aspect, having been to many of the places mentioned I could relive it myself. The atmosphere and sultry Spanish guy didn't disappoint. Javier was a sweetie and such a gentleman, it would be awesome to have a tour guide like him! While I thought Daisy's story was my favourite part I was quickly switched back to Flo. The animals were an enjoyable addition, the humour had me in fits of giggles, how many times can a poor girl end up on her bum! I was born and bred a country girl surrounded by various animals so some of the situations were extremely plausible. Hugo was a fine art edition! Both leading men were likeable in their own way, it shows how there really can be somebody for everyone .. if love finds you grab it with both hands! I connected with all the girls, they made it easy to like them although I felt inclined to offer them both advice at times. A superb read, simple to fall into and be easily absorbed, plenty of romantic moments and a little nostalgia included. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will highly recommend. Thanks to Netgalley, Zara and Harper Impulse for my copy ... this is my honest opinion.
