This is a fundamentally sound translation of the Holy Qur'an made even more valuable by the historical and linguistic notes added. Please ignore the hostile reviews found here as they are of a primary sectarian nature by traditionalists who deplore any nuances of translation that clearly flies in the face of their 'interpretation' of Islam which is mostly non Qur'anic in origin! M.M. Ali's choices of difficult translations are well explained and fully justified unlike most translations. Furthermore he gives what I consider one of the best linguistic analysis of the original Arabic available in English. Finally, the Arabic Script is beautifully done and a delight to read. If you are looking for an approach to the Qur'an that is NOT militant-based (which represents a majority of Islamic beliefs despite the media hype otherwise), then this is the choice for you. Peace profound!

I have read an English translation of the Holy Bible, and now I'm currently reading this book. This book doesn't contain only the translation; it contains the Arabic text, the translation and a lot of foot notes that explains not only the several meanings and interpretations, but the historical background of everything. I was a devoted Christian (Catholic), and now I have the full understanding of the point of view of Jews, Christians and Muslims. And now I believe that the Prophet Mohammed came to give us the latest and most updated message from our Lord, our God: Allah. Worth buying and spending time to read the texts, foot notes, everything.

This version is so clear and has so many wonderfully useful little perks it's hard to enumerate them easily. These are the ones that stand out the most. 1. It is written in clear English, not old English. 2. The whole first part of the book talks to we the reader, who may never have picked up a Quran before .It helps one read the transliteration of Arabic words, a side by side English to Arabic pronunciation of Biblical names so that a reader would know "who" was being spoken of. 3. There is an explanation of the construction or the way the "chapters" were handed down from Allah and the "parts" of the Quran are labeled clearly. This is especially helpful for a new Muslim at Ramadan when we are reading a "part" each day of Ramadan. 4. One of the most valuable things to me were all of the foot notes with references to other chapters(Surahs) whether in the Bible or in the Quran. Not all of the references religious, many are on the sciences and some are historical. As you can see, I am very happy with it as a religious book but also as a study tool for me to be a more informed Muslima. (female tense)

Another wonderful work from the Ahmadiyya Ishaat Islam. The original Koran is in the form of Arabic poetry and any translation into another language is as good as the the knowledge and the intentions of the translator. Many of Koran's translations have been twisted to meet different agendas and this is one major reason the world of Islam is in such a sorry state today. Maulana Muhammad Ali's translation is by far the most wholesome and realistic. Other highly recommended writings of the Maulana are : Mohammad The Prophet, and History of The Prophets.

I've read several different translations of the Quran, and find this to be the best. It's language and concepts are powerful, natural (not flowery or grandiose) and consistent. It is also probably more 'literal' and faithful than others, avoiding rhetoric where not called for. One example: it uses the literal 'non-believers', instead of 'infidel', avoiding that inflammatory perjorative. A beautiful text by a great scholar, it has excellent introductory notes and extensive explanatory footnotes. I highly recommend this text for anyone wanting an introduction to Islam's authentic and powerful world view.

This translation is by far the best one of the Qur'an into English. I think these ideals presented in this Qur'an represents true Islam.

This copy of the Qur'an is very good at helping those Muslims who do not know how to read Arabic script to be able to recite the Qur'an. It is a wonderful book. And hopefully it will help any muslim who needs it. I found this book extremely helpful.

This translation is by an Ahmadiyya. Ahmadiyya are NOT Muslims. They don't believe the termination of Prophethood by Prophet Muhammad. This translation and historical references have been given to promote Ahmadiyya views which are NOT Islamic.

The Quran is an excellent sourse where you can find out what the religion Islam is about. This book was revealed in a period of 23 years and contains everything so beautifully for every muslim to follow. If you have anything negative to say about this book then you haven't understood it correctly. I don't believe people should write there comments about other sect of muslims.

The Quran is a wonderful book. Readers should find a different translation. Ahmadiyya are not muslims. There are many subtle points in this translation that shift the meanings in the Quran to support Ahmadiyya views. This translation should be read with due reservation.

This sacred text is poetical at times, filled with truth, and revelational. It shares how we can enter into the path of soul and find enlightenment and peace. The inspirational teachings remind us who we really are and how we can live the life we are meant to live.
