This is book #3, in The Hoax Series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading in order. Logan met Tessa when he gave her a ride into town after an accident. Later, they find out there is a familial connection. He is friends with her brother. What he does not understand, is how he is so attracted to her even after she has rejected him repeatedly. Tessa is not wanting to move home. She does not want anything to stop her from meeting her goals. Her family is relentless. Logan makes her feel things she has not felt for a while. Is it worth taking this chance? This was a bit of a slow burn. It starts off with a bang, but kind of mellows out, and gets running again. The characters are both strong, but their chemistry burns high. I was kind of waiting for a burn out. Luckily for me, this is an author who never disappoints. ***This copy was given in exchange for an honest review only, by Netgalley and its publisher.

The Hometown Hoax is a funny and romantic read that will leave you wanting for more... Ever since Tessa Cutter left her tiny hometown for the busy city of Manhattan, she has failed miserably to pursuit her artistic dream. Hoping to get feature at a gallery, she has sent some of her best work to just about every gallery in NYC, but has only received no as an answer. With nothing to hold her back, she decides to go back home to a camping trip with her family, but she has to come up with a way to distract her family from keep telling her to come back home. Tessa has escaped town for a reason, and she doesn't want to go back to the life where she had everyone's eyes on her. But when she does get home, she ends up meeting a stranger on her way there and soon things start to turn for the worse. When she finds out that the stranger happens to be her brother-in-law's friend, she does everything in her power to make him miserable in front of her family. Yet as the two start to get to know each other better, she realizes just how much her hometown means to her, but if she is to give Logan a chance she will have to leave her dreams of becoming successful in the city behind, which she doesn't want to do. Logan Ridley grew up in Manhattan, so he is familiar with the excitement of the big city, yet it was the city that left him broke and with no job. His dreams of having his own gym have been crushed, and that left him with no other place to go, except to the little town of Cutter's Creek. But being an outsider in a town where everyone seems to be about everyone is not easy to get used to at first, but when he gets invited to a camping trip with the Cutter family he quickly accepts. Soon he meets Tessa Cutter and the two have undeniable chemistry that only makes him that much more interested in her, yet finding out that her life is in the city with her boyfriend he decides to step back, only to find out that he might just have a chance with her if he convinces her that Cutter Creek is not bad after all. I really enjoyed reading this book, it was hilarious and sweet. The chemistry between the characters keeps growing throughout the book and that alone had me reading until the very end. Though the characters have their own issues, the town of Cutter Creek becomes a sanctuary for them as the two try to move on from their pasts. Tessa's family was funny and devious in the book that caused a lot of trouble for Tessa and Logan, but that caused the two main characters to realize just how much they loved each other. In terms of personalities, Tessa is a fire cracker, and will say whatever is on her mind. Whereas, Logan is more calm and collective in all sorts of situations. He tries to make things work, and he is willing to go back to the city if it means being with the woman that he loves (which I absolutely loved!). Overall, the writing was great and if you are looking for a romantic story filled with hilarious moments then I would highly recommend reading this book!. :) ***ARC provided by Entangled in exchange for an honest review.***

If you are a private person, then I imagine that living with an overly nosy family in a small town where everyone knows your business and sees nothing wrong with talking about it would feel like being in a fishbowl, especially if your family is the equivalent of royalty in the town. Tessa Cutter hightailed it to New York to pursue her dream to be a successful artist as soon as she could and has no plans to return to her small town except for brief family visits. She's back for the family's annual camping vacation, armed with an imaginary boyfriend to forestall her family's matchmaking tendencies. Logan Ridley is starting over in Cutter's Creek after losing his business in New York and so far he loves the town so he can't understand Tessa's aversion to being there and is determined to give her a reason to want to stay because he is falling for her. Will Tessa's dislike of her town make their romance a short-lived one when she heads back to the city or will she find something to love about her town? Will Tessa find Logan as interfering as her family and his plans manipulative? Or will she finally grasp what's important? The premise for this story is a fun one and I really looked forward to reading it. For the most part, it was a lighthearted and funny read and I really liked Logan even as he blundered his way through trying to make Tessa happy. My only issue was with Tessa. I can relate with her aversion to her family's meddling and their lack of understanding of her artistic tendencies, but I wasn't a fan of her immature responses to their interference and her constant lashing out instead of having mature conversations. The one thing that saved the story for me was Logan. It's hard to resist a guy a kind-hearted and thoughtful guy, especially when he has the looks to match and he was all that. I liked that he was willing to do anything to make Tessa happy even when she wasn't so nice to him and I enjoyed their relationship when they weren't fighting. I enjoyed the author's writing and overall it was an okay read. Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. 3.5*** This was a quick entertaining read. Tessa kept Logan on his toes, definitely challenging him throughout the story. She wanted to be independent and get away from her meddling family and small town. I can appreciate that being a very independent make my own decisions kinda girl. Logan was a honey of a man. My heart went out to him at times for him being all alone and wanting to be a part of something bigger. And the way he tried to fix things, oh momma, that melted my heart. a good hometown read Tessa Cutter went to Manhattan to chase her artistic dreams . She comes home to visit her family and when home she makes up the perfect pretend boyfriend—who lives in NYC who is wonderful, handsome and successful. Logan Ridley, who is sort of down on his luck when his personal training studio shut down but he was told of a job that where there is an opening- as a gyn teacher in Cutter’s Creek. Small town life- different from the Big Apple. Everywhere he goes, he hears about Tessa. He was looking forward to meeting her but when he did, she was horrible to him. And the book just went sideways from there. I get it, She comes home and it seems like everyone wants to keep “the baby” of the bunch little forever but that wasn’t the case. And here is this great guy and he is new to town and he gets the sharp edge of her tongue…it just fell flat for me. Even the ending , which seemed sort of rushed, didn’t fix the impression but Logan was a sweetheart of a hero and I loved his character. Tessa needed to grow up or she needed someone to really explain a few things. As it was, this book just didn’t do it for me. My rating: 3.8 stars *** ***A gifted copy was provided by the publisher via NETGALLEY for my honest review****

This is a fun, light-hearted story with a few improbabilities that are used to make the story work. If you go with it, you will find a cute, small town story with interesting characters and a few surprises. ARC received from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyed this fast paced, sweet, sexy, entertaining, and well written romance, that captured my attention from the beginning until the end. I enjoyed the fun witty banter and the sexy, chemistry between Logan and Tessa. Also enjoyed the entertaining ways the secondary characters manipulate and plot behind their backs hoping to push these two together. Tessa Cutter is not looking forward to returning home for a camping vacation with her family. She is not looking forward to her family trying to manipulate her in to returning home to the small town life where everyone knows everything about you two seconds after it happens. That was the reason she left it all behind. She had longed for the adventure and anonymity of New York City. So in a attempt to keep her family at arms length she fabricated a great life and a rich boyfriend who is to busy working to return with her. Logan Ridley has known Travis, Tessa's brother in law since college. He has just moved to town after losing his family and his business in New York City. He is tired of the busy city life. He is going to be filling in as the new physical education teacher for the school while the teacher is out on maternity leave and then he hopes to open up a small gym where there is not any competition. He has also been invited to go camping with the Cutters'. Logan and Tessa start off on the wrong footing with a minor run in on their way to the camping site. But with the help of her family they soon can't seem to stay away from one another. It is great to watch these opposites start to attract each other. And when Tessa slips up and Logan finds out the truth about her fake boyfriend all bets are off. The stolen glances and touches that lead to more. And there is something so sexy about his confident ability to take charge as well as challenge Tessa. " Somehow in an odd twist of fate she hadn't seen coming, she no longer had a fake boyfriend but instead now had a very real crush on the sexy man lying a few feet away. A man who recently moved to the town she couldn't wait to leave. This couldn't be good. But that kiss had been anything but bad. " What is Tessa going to do? Will Logan give up his dream for Tessa? You will have to read to find out. Great ending. Highly recommended! Received a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Tessa left home to make a life in New York City as an Artist. She hasn't met with much successful, but overall she is happy in her life. She returns to small hometown for a family vacation and meets Logan. He use to live in the city, but after his gym business failed, he moved to Cutter's Edge to build a new life. Logan and Tessa are forced together by her family, and eventually they succumb to their attraction. Will Logan convince Tessa that small town life isn't so bad? This is a cute book that I have mixed feelings about. I liked Logan, but struggled to connect with Tessa. I didn't like the way Tessa's family pressured her to move back home. I did like the chemistry and dialogue between the main characters. So overall a good book, but memorable. I was given a free copy for and honest review by netgalley.com

This is probably one of the funniest stories I have read all year. I totally sympathized with our heroine as to why she had a problem with the small town and gossip that that brings. as I live in a small town. I have never read this author before this book, but I love discovering new authors and recommending them to others.

My Thoughts: After reading and loving The Hookup Hoax, I knew I had to check out more by Heather Thurmeier. The premise of this one caught my eye, and once I started reading, I was enveloped in the world. Tessa left her hometown of Cutter's Creek for the big city and now that she's back for vacation, she couldn't be less pleased. She meets Logan in an unfortunate way, causing her to have an instant dislike toward him. After being forced to be in close quarters, there's an undeniable spark between them. Since she's lying about having a boyfriend in the city, it keeps Logan from chasing her. That is, until he finds out there is no boyfriend. But their romance is going to be short-lived because Tessa wants nothing to do with her hometown, while Logan is loving this place. Where can they go from here? The Hometown Hoax was a lovely small town romance. I could completely empathize with Tessa's feelings toward her hometown and the gossip chain associated with it. And on the other hand, I could see why Logan completely fell for the sweet town. Their relationship was nice to watch unfold--how they had more in common than they initially thought and how their romance secretly developed. All in all, another great story from Heather Thurmeier! My Rating: Very Good

A fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed. A fast paced romance with Tessa and Logan. Tessa left the small city to find her dream, but soon found out that she could not afford to live there. Logan is from the big city finding his dream, but also can not afford it. Little did Tessa know, that her family was playing matchmaker for her and Logan. The sexual chemistry between these two is hot. Loved the banter between these two. They soon will find out that their dreams can come true. I highly recommend this for a fun read. 3 stars The HomeTown Hoax was an OK read. The writing was done well and the storyline was fairly engaging but I failed to connect with Tessa, this played a part in my overall enjoyment. On the plus side was Logan's character, he made the book for me, he was a sweetheart and I really liked him.

This was an okay book. Nothing too exciting, but not dull either. Tessa is from a small town and moved to New York City to try to make it big as an artist. She's very tired of the small-town way of life with all the gossipers knowing everything about her, and especially knowing it before she does. Logan manages to be in the right place at the right time, butts heads with Tessa, but they both have a very strong physical connection going on. Tessa is wound up very tight since she doesn't want anyone trying to convince her to move back home, and she's always on the defense about everything. This got on my nerves. Logan is every woman's dream. Nice, funny, charming, athletic, and sounds very sexy. The story ended well, and I was pretty surprised with it. It was sweet and thoughtful. Tessa Cutter has always had big city dreams and the desire to escape small town living and leave every thing she knows behind. She is living in Manhattan now and living out her dreams and doing what she loves, and has no regrets about leaving her small town life behind. When her family invites her home for a family camping trip she is reluctant about returning home, mainly because her family will badger her about settling down, so she constructs the perfect plan to avoid it all. She creates a fake boyfriend, who of course was just too busy being successful to return home with her. She carries on her little charade thinking it's working perfectly...that is until she meets Cutter's Creek newest gym teacher Logan Ridley. After Logan Ridley has to close down his personal training studio in Manhattan he is left wondering what his next step is going to be, luckily for him he has good friends. His friend hears he is need of a job, so he offers to help him get a job as a gym teacher, only problem is Logan will have to leave the big city to take it. While he has reservations about leaving behind everything he knows, he realizes it's the best opportunity he's got right now, so he decides to make the move to Cutters Creek. And surprisingly he is really starting to enjoy small town living, and thinks he might just stick around for a while, especially when he meets the infamous Tessa Cutter. She left small town life behind for the big city a long time ago, but he's hoping he'll be able to give her a good reason to stay this time... This was my first experience with this author's work, and I have to say I enjoyed it. I enjoy reading small town romance stories, and this one will go down as one of my favorites that I've read this year. I am hoping the author will write more stories about the residents of Cutters Creek, I really enjoyed meeting them and would love to make a return visit. If you enjoy light-hearted small town romances I recommend you give this book a try, it is sure to leave you with a happy heart!! I would have to say that this was a good read. I thought it pretty predictable but it was a sweet story and well written. Tessa is a young lady that has moved to Manhattan to try and make a go of her artist career. She never liked her home town that she grew up in and is doing everything she can to not have to go back there, except for the fact that her family lives there, she might have gotten away with it. When Tessa goes back for a camping weekend with her family, she never expected to run into someone that just might change her mind about how she sees her hometown. Logan and Tessa meet when they both were trying to avoid a major wreck a few miles from Cutters Creek, Tessa's hometown. When Tessa meets Logan, she knows that he is the perfect match for her perfect boyfriend that she has told her family about that doesn't really exist. When Logan had to shut down his personal business, a gym, his friend gets him a job in Cutter's Creek as a teacher until he can get back on his feet again. Logan has grown to love everything about Cutter's Creek and can't really understand why Tessa has the hate for it that she does. When Tessa asks him to go on the family camping trip with him, he never thought that he might be going with the girl of his dreams. Can he convince her that she needs to move back to Cutter's Creek so that they can continue their relationship or will Tessa's longing to move away from her hometown get in their way? Although I could not connect with Tessa at all, I thought that she fit the bill for this type of character. Logan was too good and too nice to her at first I thought. He had patience to be able to deal with her. Thanks Heather Thurmeier for a good read and can't wait to see what is next for us from you!

I really enjoyed this one. It's light and fun, nothing too deep but completely entertaining. Cute and intriguing characters and a nice story at the core. Tessa Cutter fled her small hometown for a couple reasons. First, her desire to make something of her art career. Secondly, her family is driving her crazy. She loves them but their meddling is just too much. Now she's back for a family camping trip where she meets the very hot Logan Ridley. He's a new arrival to Cutter Creek but it seems he's very content to stay there so he's unavailable in Tess's book. But the chemistry between them is strong and a few holiday memories seem like a good idea. Logan wants more though, can he convince her that her family and Cutters Creek isn't as bad as she thinks? I recommend this one!

I enjoyed this story of finding what you're looking for in the place you least expect. Logan's character really appealed to me, as a strong and determined man who has pulled up his boot straps after his gym business in NYC failed and moved to the small town of Cutter's Creek where he's got a new job as a gym teacher. He hasn't given up on his dream to open a successful gym, he's just had to modify it. I admired his patience and positive attitude. Tessa on the other hand is struggling with her dreams of being a successful artist, the plans she had not working out the way she wanted them too. She's home for a family vacation but dreading the inevitable questions from her family who are well meaning, but come across to her as nosy and interfering. She doesn't expect to be set up with Logan who has become a family friend, but they end up sharing a cabin together and becoming friends. (My eyebrows raised a bit at the cabin sharing business, mostly because if I was at a camp with my family, my mother would never pair me off to sleep in a cabin with a complete stranger - I understood it in the interests of the plot device as a matchmaking tool but had to ignore the improbability of it to enjoy the story). There's a definite attraction between Logan and Tessa and when they get some moments alone they share some steamy scenes together. Logan is supportive of Tessa's dreams, and makes her see that she needs to change her portfolio to show some of her real talents. I'm not sure that I bought into her sudden change to accept living in her home town again to be with Logan as I kind of agreed with her previous reasons for why she left and I didn't see that the townspeople (her family included) had changed. But we do get a happy ending, and I liked this couple together and how supportive they were of each other. 3.5 stars for an enjoyable story.

This story concerns someone trying to escape the small town existence and chasing her dreams in Manhattan only to discover that she’s been chasing the wrong dream! Imagine being brought up in the hometown your ancestors not only founded but had named after them…. Now imagine not liking everyone minding your business but the township being so small that everyone knows everything almost before you’ve done anything. That’s what it seemed like to Tessa Cutter who grew up in Cutter’s Creek before, about a year ago, leaving the small town behind her as she chased her dream of being an artist all the way to Manhattan. She’s returning home for a family camping trip and, in an effort to keep them off her back, she pretends to have a financial whizz boyfriend…. Logan Ridley, however, has the opposite experience – he grew up in the city and started his own personal training studio in Manhattan but competition was too fierce so he’s moved to Cutter’s Creek to escape the city and he’s loving it! He’s also seriously attracted to Tessa – and her family have them sharing a cabin for the holiday. Life’s about to get even more interesting as their attraction flares but their future plans, her family and life will all just keep getting in the way! Well, they say opposites attract and that’s certainly applies in this couple’s case! From car accident, family matchmakers and dreams awaiting achievement, this is an easy read, relaxing, fairly straight forward romance, just right to escape into when you don’t want anything too complicated or twisted. A delightful small town romance to leave you in a good mood after reading it. I particularly like the town’s role in the end (but I’m not telling you what it is, you’ll need to read it yourself to find out!) Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

With The Hometown Hoax, Ms. Thurmeier composed a story that is somewhat idealistic but cute none the lest. This read reminded me of the saying " one person's junk may be another's treasure." Tessa saw Cutter's Creek for everything it lacked and was not. Maybe because it was her hometown and she wanted more than to be cut off from new experiences, new people and a different environment. Logan saw it in the opposite way because he had already experienced fast paced living and adventurous experiences. The Hometown Hoax is a story of perception, deception and distinguishing between the two. I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review. The heart of this book is finding out what is most important.
