Overview

Best friends since birth, Brooke Reid and Savannah Prescott, spend their days working together at top fashion magazine Hourglass, while enjoying all that the Denver nightlife has to offer - but sharing a man - no way.

One of Denver's most eligible bachelors, Luke Wellington, can have any woman he wants and he knows it. Putting his player skills to the test, he destroys a friendship and makes two women fall in love with him as he sits back and enjoys the best of both worlds.

Brooke Reid is a woman looking for her happily ever after, and the day she literally ran in to him, she thought she'd found it. Charming, charismatic, a true gentleman - what more could she ask for? Things are going perfectly until her best friend struts in the elevator and claimed his lips right in front of her.

Savannah Prescott is interested in one thing, having a good time with every single man Denver has to offer. Being tied down is too much of a bore for her free spirited ways. Or so she thinks, but when her best friend starts dating her Friday night fling, she realizes she may be ready to turn in her game card and settle down into a real relationship.

When both girls come to the realization that they are after the same man, it means all-out war. Best friends until the end, or at least until him.

Hourglass by K.S. Smith and Megan Smith is an extremely funny, genuine feel good book. It would make a terrific romantic comedy movie. At first, I just wanted to reach out my momma bird arms and protect Brooke and Savannah from the evil Lucas, but laughed so very much when they figured it out themselves. I would not have had the emotional fortitude to not slap him immediately. I love the HEA for the girls in the epilogue..but not so much for Lucas. This is a must read.

Received and ARC for an honest review and this is a great story. It is so much more than the normal love story. This is my first time reading anything from these authors and I am hooked. The main characters are best friends, Brooke and Savanah. Each of their romances is different and amazing. The plot twists are so good that I couldn’t put the book down. It kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. You gotta love the happily ever after and they way these girls get there is beyond words. Men all over should know; Do not come between best friends!

Hourglass by K.S.Smith and Megan C. Smith 3 out of 5 Stars Ok so this book is a really hard one for me to review, as I started the book I really enjoyed the opposites attract friendship between Savannah and Brooke, the typical sassy, sexy, confident hottie who goes after everything she wants regardless of who happens to be standing in her way(Savannah) finds a cute, prudish, nice girl who works really hard, keeps her head down, and refuses to be overly pushy (Brooke).  Together they create the perfect yin and yang of life, pushing and pulling each other to be their best and giving and taking the advice that allows them both to have amazing adventures and even more amazing sex lives!!  But when both girls meet Mr. Might-Be-Right, and he happens to be the same guy; they become true witches with a capitol "B"!   Yes Mr. MBR is really Mr. Wrong, but his behavior is soooo expected and believable while Brooke and Savannah become high school mean girls that I can't even relate to.  So there is the crux of the matter, I can't imagine being friends with either of these girls, and they act like girls, not corporate women who are mature and truly invested in their jobs or each other, regardless of how serious they are about settling down.  The things they do to each other, while fighting over Lucas/Luke, are unforgiveable.  Then their ability to forgive and forget immediately is even harder for me to relate to.  They put each other's jobs, finances, medical information, and general wellbeing in jeopardy and then just push it under the rug like it was nothing.  I can't relate to a woman who truly sets out to hurt and destroy her best friend, over anything, without talking in person specifically...and then just says "Oh, its ok! Let's just pretend none of that happened." and laughs. So on this book I don't know if it's a personal issue because these are Gen X characters and their normal behavior and I'm 36 or is it morality and maturity that is getting in the way or is it just me? As for the writing style, the book was well written for the most part.  It moved a little fast in my opinion, from the time the girls met Luke/Lucas until they both feel connected enough to truly turn on a friend over their feelings for him, but that goes back to my question above.  I enjoyed the character development of the girls and what parts of Luke/Lucas we got to see but I just couldn't relate to them once the meat of the book really got going. So that's why I gave it 3 stars, I think for me it wasn't a good fit but someone like my 25 year old sister might find it more relatable and as a single woman she might find the plot line more comical and believable.  So there you have it... *A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review* Pepper, My Secret Book Spot

Hourglass by K.S. Smith and Megan C. Smith - I wanted to get my hands on this book for SO long! It was literally like watching the sands drop down in an hourglass as I waited for this book to be written and watched teaser after teaser make its way to my page! I will even admit to being a bit nervous once I finally got this baby in my greedy little hands. Would it live up to my expectations? Well... I just LOVED this first collaborative effort between Megan C Smith and K.S. Smith! Two BFFs, Brooke and Savannah, different as night and day, yet they compliment each other perfectly. One more quiet and reserved, the other the life of the party. They thought they had it all. Working together at top fashion magazine Hourglass, partying it up in Denver and meeting sexy, charming men or would that be the same man? I know that many people have issues with love triangles, I personally have always been entertained by them (well, at least in books! But what sets Hourglass apart from other book is that this is a whole new look on the love triangle. I soooooo wanted to like Luke Wellington and I kept waiting for him to do the right thing and stop being a sleazy player who was playing the two best friends like a violin. But don't you worry once Brooke and Savannah catch on Luke gets what's coming to him! And this is one you do NOT want to miss!  I highly recommend this book! It is chock full of goodness for you. It is a quick and entertaining read. Plus don't you need to know who ends up with Luke? Brooke? Sav? Both? Neither? Go grab Hourglass and find out ;) I received a complimentary copy of Hourglass from the authors in exchange for my honest review

This book is about 2 best friends Savannah and Brooke, and a boy. Savannah works as a photographer and the famous Hourglass fashion magazine 2 years. Brooke has just finished up an internship and wants to work and Hourglass. Savannah has been having a regular Friday night booty call with Luke for awhile now. All it is sex, or is it. After interviewing at Hourglass on Friday Savannah and Brooke go out celebrating. The next day Brooke needs to let off steam so she takes a drive. While on her way she gets into an accident her car is okay but the other guys needs to be towed away. His name is Lucas and they wind up spending the morning together. Brooke can’t wait to talk to Savannah about this great new guy she meet. Savannah learns on Monday that she got the job and has a date with Lucas what could be better. She starts work the next day and soon learns that she and Savannah are seeing the same guy. Savannah shakes it off and tells her that she will stop seeing Luke and for Brooke to go for it, as it looks like they really like each other and for her its just sex or at least that’s what she thinks at the time. Savannah realizes that maybe she really does like Luke and it wasn’t just about sex after all. She decides to go to New York and help out a friend for the week. The fun starts when she gets back. Luke is at the airport to pick her up and tells her that he misses her and he likes Brooke but it just isn’t the same as how he feels about her. Mean while he is still going out with Brooke and has told he thinks he may be falling in love with her. Will the girls realize they are being playing and dating the same man? How long can Luke keep this up? What will happen when they girls realize what is going on? I really liked this book it was different for the others books I have read. I loved Brooke and Savannah. They have a great friendship and love each other like sisters. I liked Luke at first until I found out he was dating both girls and messing with their friendship. He know all the right things to say with out it seeming like he was up to something. I really liked what happened after the girls figured it out. Instead of just getting mad and yelling at him they came up with a way to get back at him. The ending was wonderful. I was really happy that the girls got a happily ever after, after the mess they went through with Luke. I would love to read more about what happens between the girls and guys. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Hourglass: Brooke and Savannah have been best friends forever. They complement each other one shy and reserved the other outgoing and adventurous. Brooke has finally made part of her dream come true working for the top fashion magazine Hourglass. Brooke is also a country girl at heart she bumps into a man on her way out and instantly falls for him. In true best friend fashion she can’t wait to let Savannah know. Little do either of them know that they are both dating the same man. When the truth comes to light Savannah graciously bows out wanting to see her friend happy and let’s face she has never really been a relationship gal. Oh how things change once she lets Lucas goes she realizes that not only does she want a relationship but she deserves one too. Too bad Lucas is douche bag. He is determined to have both women in his life. What ensues is just wow I have no words. Will Lucas be able to destroy a lifelong friendship? Will the girls ever come to the realization that Lucas is a dog underneath all that sophisticated handsomeness? Will the truth break one of these women beyond repair? Read the book and find out. It will have you on a roller coaster of emotions that’s for sure.

I decided to select this book as a summer on the beach easy read, but I quickly realized this was not only light and funny but a late night home alone book too ;) I read the debut books for both authors and loved them and am so glad I was not disappointed by their follow up. These two authors are an amazing team and have really captured the essence of these characters so well. I was TEAM SAVANNAH, but I could identify with both characters. I could not put it down once I started and found the storyline entertaining, the characters endearing, and the sex steamy. It was a great read all the way around and you will love it.

I loved this book! Lets just say I have dated a couple of Luke types, I would have LOVED to have done what these girls do! Best friends since birth, Brooke Reid and Savannah Prescott, spend their days working together at top fashion magazine Hourglass, while enjoying all that the Denver nightlife has to offer – but sharing a man – no way.  Brooke Reid is a woman looking for her happily ever after and Savannah Prescott is interested in one thing, having a good time with every single man Denver has to offer.  When both girls come to the realization that they are after the same man, it means all-out war.  Best friends until the end, or at least until him. If you have ever been a player or dated a player you should read this book!

Besties Savannah and Brooke are living the high life. Kickass in their fields at the leading magazine office, confident and both have found love. Life could not get any better. Savannah loves Luke while Brooke has fallen hard for Lucas. Turns out, Luke and Lucas are the same man. No, correction. He’s the same lying, cheating, double crossing, misogynistic mofo excuse for a man who turns these two best friends into conniving and spiteful frenemies.  Hourglass is a well written, fast paced, quick witted and modern take on a tale of scorned woman. Going to do a google search for more books from these authors – if Hourglass is anything to go by – they have cracked the market goldmine and adding to the TBR pile. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book today because I had not read the synopsis. Although, even if I had read it, I still would have wanted to read it. Brooke Reid and Savannah Prescott have been friends their entire lives. Brooke has just been hired as the Design Editor for Hourglass magazine where Savannah is the lead photographer. After running into Lucas with her car, Brooke begins a relationship with this man. Little does Brooke know that her best friend has also been seeing "Luke" and their friendship suffers. Luke is a player and pits the two best friends against each other in a plot that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. This book was such an interesting read that I actually read it in one sitting. Once I got started, I couldn't put it down until I found out everything I could about Brooke, Savannah and Luke. The character development was good but the plot blew me away. This is the first book that I've read where two female best friends were involved with the same man. I enjoyed the book, especially the ending, and the almost snafu. I hope to read more by KS Smith and Megan Smith.

When I read the synopsis for this book I was very intrigued and the book definitely delivered! I loved the way the story unfolds chapter after chapter between the two character's lives. I have read "multiple-view" books before but this one was so refreshing. The authors kept the story constantly moving forward by not going back in time to retell different point of views. This book will crack you up and make you gasp! I also had a few good tugs on my heartstrings! With two lead female characters who are totally opposite, everyone can identify with the relationships and situations. Well done ladies! I hope there is a sequel around the corner!!!
