With an ever-growing “To Do” list, I find it difficult to wind down at the end of a busy day. Colouring helps me unwind and destress. It gives me something to focus on instead of the next item on my very long list. “The Illustrated Word – Illuminated Bible Colouring Journal” has beautiful pages to colour that are inspired by the artwork of master artists. “The Illustrated Word – An Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal” is a hardcover journal. It measures 7 x 0.9 x 9.1 inches. It is a wonderful companion to the “Illuminate Your Story Journal” and “Faith and Lettering Journal”. Writing in your journal is a very personal experience. Regardless of your reason, every journal entry benefits from a few minutes of focused quiet time. The beautiful artwork in this journal gives you a few moments quiet time to colour and gather your thoughts and prepare your mind and heart to begin writing. The ruled pages allow you to write down your thoughts for the day. Many pages contain small full-colour illustrations from the archives of the Museum of the Bible for inspiration. There are 40 line drawings for you to colour that is based on the ancient illustrated manuscripts. I would like to see more information about the beautiful artwork in the journal. Knowing the backstory of any piece of art only enhances its beauty. Carving out a few moments for yourself each day is just as important as any item on your “To Do” list. Journaling in the “The Illustrated Word Journal” helps keep the focus of this time as a time for you to relax and just be with your thoughts. *Disclosure: I received a complimentary “The Illustrated Word – An Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal” through Worthy Publishing in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.

The Illustrated Word, an Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal, Write On! Do you have a journal, or have you thought of starting one? An exciting new way to write is to use an illustrated art journal, and here is you should consider. This volume has lovely, embossed hardback covers that feel really good to the touch, and are nice to look at. High quality cardstock that should hold up to all kinds of ink without bleeding through to the other side is found throughout. This book has a substantial feel, it will easily stay open while adding thoughts, contain lots of pages devoted to journaling, and has a presentation page for the owner. The Illustrated Word, an Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal, a Museum of the Bible Book, was inspired by drawings medieval monks added when copying scripture. Throughout the journaling pages, there are examples of page decorations from ancient times. The book then includes recreations of those designs made so you can color them yourself. Working on this over-sized journal, you will produce your own illustrated book that will be reminiscent of Camelot and other days gone by. You will create a treasure to look at, as well as, a place to read your thoughts and dreams. The intricate embellishments on both the front and back covers of this journal are nice to the touch, and remind one of expensive literature volumes from days of old. This over-sized book will be enjoyed by those who want less instruction and structure while journaling. Journaling in such a nice book will give you the feeling of creating art, and you can try your hand at illumination. You are sure to have a new journaling experience! Ellie Claire Art Journals has provided bookreadingtic with a complimentary copy of The Illustrated Word, an Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal, for the purpose of review. I have not been compensated in any other manner. All opinions expressed are my own, and I was not required, or influenced, to give anything but an honest appraisal. Fans of adult coloring books will enjoy this journal inspired by artwork from ancient Bibles. The color images throughout the journal come from the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C. and the 40 black and white line drawings for the journaler to color are derived from those medieval designs. I appreciated that there is a source citation for each piece. The quality of the book construction is excellent, with an embossed hardcover and cloth covered spine which allows the book to lay open flat for easier writing. The pages are cream colored and sturdy with a slight texture that is ideal for using colored pencils. This is not a thin book, there are plenty of pages, yet it somehow doesn't feel heavy. This would make a great gift for those who enjoy ancient art and traditional designs. (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)

This journal is described as a “coloring journal”. The pages are a combination of ruled lines and coloring pages, with some pages having full-color illustrations taken from the archives of the Museum of the Bible in the corners for inspiration. The coloring pages are created from the same source. This hardcover journal has embossing and gilding on the cover. It has a very nice feel to it and the cover design fits well with the images inside. The flyleaf has an elegant feel. The actual pages of the journal are lined and are a cream color. The feel of the pages is more like watercolor paper or thick coloring book paper. It has a wonderful binding that allows it to stay open easily whether you are on the first page or in the middle of the journal. The style of the illustrations reminds me of medieval church art, which I guess a lot of it is. There are many repeated motifs on the pages and intricate designs. While the style of the art is not necessarily one that I gravitate to, I imagine that I will enjoy spending time relaxing and coloring the pages as I have already started doing. Read with a Preview at I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.

The Ellie Claire Art Journals make for unique gift ideas this Christmas. These journals are made of high quality paper and binding with exquisite attention to detail, including pen loops on the binder and elastic band closures. A great gift for the art lover on your list. Out of the three journals, this was my favorite because it has a wider gift appeal. It’s basically a coloring book and journal together. The quality is superb. The cover is a thick, textured hardback cover and the paper is thick enough that markers won’t bleed through.

This journal is like a gorgeous piece of artwork! Inside you'll find beautiful pages that you can color. These pieces are so intricate and amazing that you will feel like you've created a piece of artwork from long ago that belong in a museum. Each and every one of these pictures are just amazing! In fact, each drawing is based on a work of art that they show in a smaller square so you can have an idea of how it looks when it's done. Of course, you don't have to adhere to the colors they used in the original artwork but can make them your very own! It's your choice of how you want to color in your pictures. Some have Scripture as a part of the picture and some are just amazing pictures that will stir your heart and inspire you. I really love all the blank pages inside this book for either writing in or creating my own artwork on. The paper is high quality and I was able to use not just regular pens inside but makers as well as my watercolor pens. I had no bleed through and the paper handled the watercolor pens very well without a lot of wrinkling or pulping of the paper. I could definitely see using this journal as a place to write my Scriptures or make notes regarding my Bible reading. I think what I will mostly use it for, though, is my artwork inspired by my Bible reading. The journal is really perfectly made for doing artwork in! I love this journal and it's something I will always treasure. I can highly recommend it for it's high quality papers, drawings to color in, and for inspiration. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This journal was provided to me by Worthy Publishing. I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading, drawing and writing in this journal.
