Immediately after their marriage in May of 2002, Linda (McBride) Reyes and Javier Reyes learn that their lives are being threatened by an unidentified group. They flee to Mexico's southern Baja Peninsula where they start a new life with assumed names. As we join them in La Paz five years later, they are about to make an accidental discovery that will change their lives forever.
Linda, Javier and friend Carlos search by land, sea and air for the source of coded messages that are so shocking they must be shared with the world. Meanwhile, far away in the Bahamas, newspaper reporter Alan Larsen uncovers more mysteries than he bargained for when he searches Andros Island for clues about the disappearance of Linda's former boss, Frank Morton.
About the series:
The Informants is part of a four-book set. The first three each follow a different character through the same exact period of time. Although they are set in remotely distant geographic locations, each of the three story lines intersects with the others, creating a unique reading experience. Read them one at a time, in the normal fashion, or read them in parallel-chapter 1 of each book, then chapter 2 of each book, and so forth.

What People are Saying About This
The Informants is a solid, smart thriller, with believable characters doing the unbelievable to uncover the fantastic truth about the rise of human civilization. (Sean Ellis, Author of The Shroud Of Heaven and Dark Trinity: Ascendant)
The Informants is a fun thriller that moves quickly and covers a lot of territory among its suspenseful twists and turns. Former government investigators Linda and Javier find not only their secret identities in jeopardy but their lives in danger after they unwittingly intercept some cryptic messages.
They and a few friends are constantly forced to evade unknown pursuers throughout Mexico's Baja California peninsula with non-stop adventure in between. It seems the 'bad guys' are always one step ahead of themfrom the village of Todos Santos to the ore smelters of El Triunfo.
As they seek answers, there's also clandestine diving and death in the Caribbean, incidents tied to the mysteries unfolding in Baja. It's the kind of book Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy fans will enjoy. The Informants is an intriguing delight for adventure and suspense readers as well as seasoned Baja buffs. (Greg Niemann, Author of several books, including Baja Legends and Baja Fever)
Most Helpful Customer Reviews
The Informants is book two of the Parallel Ops series by R.J. Archer, available in both Kindle and paperback formats. In the first R.J. Archer series, Seeds of Civilization, readers were introduced to Frank, Tony, Linda and Jim - "accidental adventurers who joined forces to investigate several of archaeology's many unsolved mysteries." In the Parallel Ops series, we catch up with each of the Seeds characters five years later after a tragic event that changed all their lives. But we catch up with them individually - each as lead character in their own book. I decided to try Mr. Archer's suggestion to read the first two books in parallel...a chapter in one, then a chapter in the other...to see where the stories intersected. I followed Jim (The Scientists) and Linda (The Informants) as they independently searched for clues to what happened to their mentor and friend, Frank Morton, the founder of NWIDI. This is a great experience and one I recommend to other readers. But before you do, consider reading the final novel in the Seeds Of Civilization series (Triangle). It will provide the backstory on Frank and the other characters. Have fun, these are great stories that take place simultaneously on different parts of the globe. The Scientists (Munich, Andros Island and Washington D.C.) and The Informants (Baja California Sur) have a near miss with each other once again in the Bermuda Triangle...on Andros Island in the Bahamas.
