The young Manzie Travelers have lived in the poor rural community of Manzie all of their short lives. They have come to the realization that most in their community doesn't even see them let alone hear them! A school project opens the door and their eyes to a quiet, very slow disease that has permeated their communities and many of the adults living in Manzie. The team work and their love for their community brings a magic to their lives. Artifacts that their parents and grandparents have given them things begin to happen and they are called to go on a magical journey to find their heritage. They use their invisibility to their advantage and go on a journey through all of Manzie to find their roots and strengths and vow to defeat the disease of Apathy in their community and bring back the spirit, love, respect and support for the beautiful communities in Manzie. This story takes place in Northern Michigan brings fantasy, history and reality into a surprising journey for these Guardians of Manzie. Growing up on the journey they become stronger, wiser and although battle scared, they are ready to help Manzie grow again and defeat the disease of Apathy once and for all.

About the Author

I am a first-time author. At 82 years of age, I can say I never entertained the idea of writing a book of any kind. However, I have been written about by others in a few publications, mostly about renewable energy and specifically wind energy. I have been in the renewable energy business (creating energy from the sun and wind) for over 50 years. Essentially, riding through life in an off-road vehicle in uncharted waters.
My vehicle and that of the many pioneers that have gone before me has been constructed on the fly. This was accomplished by me and my family and is continuing at an accelerated pace by the many dedicated pioneers after me. I am a polio survivor from the 1950s who dug my way out of the disease by sheer determination and the Grace of God. Left with numerous physical shortcomings, the Polio could not penetrate the brain membrane, but the disease of Apathy can. Dr. Seuss's book ‘Oh the Places You Will Go’ gives breath to my story. The quote from this grand book is, “Be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to great places. Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!”
