Overview

The Island by Marian Ely

One night as I was sleeping, four characters (two nuns and two American soldiers) came to me in my dreams. I got out of bed and began to write this story. The four characters seemed to evolve into real people whom I got to know very well and thought about often. Other characters came along such as a goat herder, a furniture seller who had other ideas about making money, another nun with a prickly personality, a donkey that loved carrots and a cat everyone thought was a male until "he" became pregnant! Islanda Oscura had its effect on every one of the characters and each of their lives was changed. If Islanda Oscura actually existed I would be interested in having a visit and getting to know these people even better. This is a light read, but I hope an enjoyable one. Of course it might help if you like goats, because there are many of them!
