The King’s Captain involves one adorable, real-life ‘knight in shining armor’ getting involved with two best friends – Becky and Hayley. At first, I wondered how the author would pull this off without coming across as every clichéd male fantasy seeking a menage a trois. How’d the author do? Beautifully. What I loved about this story was, for once, it wasn’t the women going on and on about whether or not things were going to work out. The male protagonist had most of the worry and anxiety usually reserved for women in romance. Yet hero Paul didn’t come across as simpering or angsty. Rather, he was charming and attractive because he came across as real. Paul remains surprised at his good fortune throughout the book -- a real and endearing quality. I also loved getting an inside peek into a male perspective around sex, love and relationships all the while being entertained. Oh, and let’s not forget the naughty bits. Very hot, and well-done. The premise is also quite fun – a reality TV show depicting medieval times. I mean, who doesn’t love a good knight in shining armor?
