Don't let them take you alive!
In this historical novel set in third century Europe, the saga of the Alemannic warrior Berand continues in a dangerous world where tradition is a death sentence, emperors are betrayed by those they trust most, and the fine line between justice and revenge blurs until only revenge is possible.

About the Author
Suzie Glover is a retired elementary school teacher and the author of The King's Chain, an historical fiction trilogy set in third century A.D. Europe. It tells, from the barbarian point of view, the sometimes-tragic exploits of the Germanic Alemanni as they fought against the Roman Empire.
Always a lover of historical fiction, Suzie's interest in the hero sagas of the Germans and Norse prompted her to wonder what these strong, tragic heroes and heroines were really like. She decided to write her own stories.
While doing a year of research, she came across the Alemanni, a little known Germanic tribe that gave the Roman Empire a lot of grief beginning in the third century A.D. She began writing and discovered a connection with her chosen subjects; imagining their lives and loves, dreams and disappointments, successes and failures came easily. It was not until she completed her first novel she discovered her maternal ancestors had been Alemanni. It seems the connection is real.
Suzie now lives in Colorado with her husband, children, and grandchildren where she enjoys her passion: researching and writing about the Alemanni. She indulges her second love, art, by producing the illustrations for her books. She and her husband have traveled to Alemannic Germany and explored the museums and Roman ruins, strolled the banks of the Rhine River, and hiked paths through the same forests the Alemanni once walked.
