Aithne’s mother lets her know that her sister Abby has been kidnapped by the Vampire King Lazzaro and he says the only way he will release Abby is for the dragon shifter -Chase Reed. Aithne gets to know Victor and the Earth Witch Sisters. Aithne comes alive around Victor. And wants him but she also knows she has to betray Victor to get Abby back. I loved this story. It had a good plot and writing. I loved how Aithne was conflicted but only because she had to betray a man she wanted for her sister. I loved the characters and also the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

Title: The King's Fire Author: Leilani Love Published: 1-7-16 Publisher: Booktrope Pages: 216 Genre: Paranormal Romance Sub Genre: Suspense; Shifters; Dragons; Wolves; Vampires; Witches ISBN: 9781513799274 ASIN: B01ACLXOPO Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley . Aithne has infiltrated The Dragon King Viktor's home under false pretenses. Posing as Amy, anew girl in the neighborhood attending the local college she has befriended Katie in order to complete her mission to kidnap Chase and exchange him for her sister Ally who has been taken by The Vampire King Lazzaro. Once she gets to know Viktor and his people, especially the Earth Witch sisters and Viktor who makes her body sing whenever he is near, she has regrets that she must betray them to save Ally. What will Viktor do when he finds out her subterfuge? Can there be a way to save Ally and the romance between Viktor and Aithne alive? Once I read book one, Violca's Dragon, I knew I would have to read The King's Fire as soon as I could. I read this book twice and enjoyed it both times. There is so much going on as each has secrets they feel they must hide from each other. I was drawn in the world of Dragon's, witches, shifters and vampires once more as I read their story. They had me feeling their fears and desires I was hoping for a compromise for the two and could have cried when it began to feel impossible. Ms. Love had it all planned out so well that she keeps you guessing to the end as to how things will end. Her characters are so defined that they quickly become people you would like to meet and get to know in our everyday life. Baring that you get to visit them time again and again through the imaginative and fertile mind of Leilani Love. For which I am grateful. Look for Violca's Vow, book 2.5 soon.

I received a free copy of The King’s Fire by the author in exchange for an honest review. Since I enjoyed the first installment of The Dragon Ruby Series, I really wanted to continue reading the second installment. This story begins with a redheaded assassin by the name of Athine. Her mission is to break into the Vampire King’s layer in search of her kidnapped sister. Athine knows that this may be a long shot, but she has nowhere else to look. As she goes one-on-one with a handful of guards, only then does she realize that it must be some kind of trap since the place isn’t very heavily guarded. The King comes face to face with her in hopes of enlisting her assistance with another kidnapping in exchange for her sister. With no other options available, she knows that she must make the deal. Informing Athine about a dragon-shifter who goes by the name of Chase, King Lazaro has requested an almost impossible task—the kidnapping of a dragon. Chase and five newly founded witch sisters have been sheltered by the Dragon King, Viktor. Athine’s new mission is deadly; however, what she doesn’t know is that things are far more complicated then they first appear. As Athine arrives, she meets the witch sisters and the Dragon King, but something doesn’t feel right. Could Athine get to know these new people, even become friends with them and then easily betray them for a sister that is constantly finding herself in trouble? My favorite character is Angyalka. She is by far the only sister that has really shown an immense adaptation for her power of foresight. Her other sisters are also gifted with other talents, but Angyalka seems to have the most control over hers—especially being so young in age. She is the only sister that does not look like the rest with brown hair, yet her sister Violca is the only sister with Violet eyes. Angyalka essentially becomes a very trusted member of the family with her ability to see into the future. My least favorite character is actually Athine. While being very confident about her abilities as an assassin, my opinion of her was high. Then, I read such an insecurity in the way that she viewed herself around men like Viktor. She always thought of herself as plain and boyish; however, it seems more of a contradiction than anything else. I would have thought her insecurities would fall into the trust category more than the looks category. The other supporting characters did not really have much of a dominant role in this story; yet, I did enjoy Kassandra and Scott’s playful banter with Viktor and Chase. The King’s Fire is an exciting story, immersed with romance and suspense. Overall, I rate this with four stars because the editing was not as well in this installment as it could have been. The pace was steady, the story line creative and original and the content is highly enjoyable. In my opinion, the target audience for this story would be adult women who are interested in paranormal romance, fantasy and possibly science fiction. This author does a wonderful job with character development and credibility. I would recommend this book to others and I look forward to reading the next installment in this series. This is not a standalone and should be read after the first installment in order to understand the story completely.
