Overview

The Kiss on Castle Road by Lauren Christopher

Natalie has always been the fun Grant sister: the one with the constantly packed suitcase and the zest for life. But this carefree existence is wearing on her. When her oldest sister, Olivia, invites her to Lavender Island for three months, Natalie jumps at the chance to look after her niece, prove she’s not irresponsible, and take a much-needed vacation from men.

Her “mancation” takes an unexpected turn when she spots a group of sick sea lions and calls on microbiologist Elliott Sherman for help. Elliott is everything Natalie is not—quiet, studious, and geeky. Yet there’s a simmering sexiness under those glasses that she’s quick to notice. And Elliott finds himself taken with her gorgeous free spirit. Despite their chemistry, outside forces threaten to keep them apart—including a secret Natalie has never shared. Can the allure of Lavender Island and its quirky residents open her heart and lead her to lasting love?

Lauren Christopher does it again! A sweet sweet read about an island off of Southern California (Hello Catalina!) with a scientist who is rescuing seals and a wild and wandering woman trying to figure out her life and helping out her sister. It was a quick beach read and I loved it. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful read. I received this book for a honest review. It is wonderful. I loved it. What do you get when you get a sexy nerdy mirobiologist and a beautiful woman. A wonderful story Natalie has come back to the island to help her pregnant sister who is on bed rest and has a little girl who needs help getting to school everyday, and then you have Elliott who has come to the island to help find out what is harming the sea lions. Natalie is on a mancation while helping her sister and she and her niece find 3 little sea lion pups and they go for help which ends up being the doctors house. They work on becoming friends and because of a bet she has with one of her other sisters and gets a part time job at a retirement center and the retirees decide to help the both of them. It is a wonderful story and look forward to more stories from the island.

This story takes place on Lavender Island, a very small community of around 3000 people. It is the first book in this new series for Lauren Christopher, and I am hoping it will be the first of many. I absolutely loved this book. It has quirky senior citizens that play a huge part in the story and without them it just wouldn't be the same. They are funny, lovable, unique and have so much heart. Along with the hero and heroine they make this one of the best books by this author I have read to date. A bit about this book. Natalie Grant is a free spirit, always going from job to job, boyfriend to boyfriend, apartment to apartment type woman. She is a commitment phobe of the biggest kind. She has a big heart and is always willing to help people. Elliot Sherman is a microbiologist, introvert and works too much. He is a nerd type that seems to be more interested in statistics than in people. He would rather work than date. He is a very caring and kind man. Natalie's sister has asked her to come and look after her niece while she is on complete bed-rest for three months while pregnant with her baby. Natalie agrees and feels it will be a good chance to prove to her sisters that she is a responsible person. It will also let her take a man-cation, a vacation from men. Something she feels she really needs. While walking with her niece one day on the rocks her niece wants to show her three seal pups, they get to where they are and the pups are not doing good. Natalie and her niece Lily rush to get someone to call rescue center to come out and help the pups, Natalie had dropped her phone and can't find it. They reach a house that Lily says has a man living in it that is kind of old and wears weird hats. So they knock on the door and the man comes and to answer, Natalie notices how good looking he is right away, but tells him about the pups, and he goes running off. She finds herself worried about her man-cation now. Elliot Sherman is having a blind date set up by his sister once again, it is going okay but he just isn't feeling it. All of a sudden someone is banging on his door. He goes to the door to find a young woman and child there. They tell him about the seal pups and he starts to run out of the door to go to them. He forgets about his date, but notices how beautiful the woman is and wonders if that is her child or if she is married, he didn't see a ring. Through the book these two are constantly thrown together, either by chance or by the seniors making it happen in different ways. The seniors think they belong together. The story takes you through their "relationship", friendship and what ever you can call it. In the end, they both teach each other a lot about themselves and life. About relationships and their meanings. The growth they both go through is wonderfully portraid in this book. The lessons learned are too. I am not saying any more as I feel its best if you read this book and find out for yourselves. I loved this book and everything about it. It has the right mix of fun, humor, sadness and love. The people in this book grabbed you and reel you in. I am hoping the next in this series is Paige's story, Natalie's sister. It should be a great one. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author in exchange for an unbiased review. I will be buying a copy to support her work when it is released, I loved it that much.
