Mariette is a lonely doll-maker for the king. She became a widow before she could ever have children and one night, she prays for a child. A bubbly starlight hears her prayer and goes off to tell the fairy queen what she heard. The fairy queen, feeling that Mariette deserved a child, granted her wish, giving one of the porcelain dolls life. This doll, named Penny, soon runs into Prince Maxwell, and that's where all her troubles begin. Before she knows it, she's running away, learning how to be a thief, meeting witches, and facing dragons. And if that wasn't dangerous enough for a porcelain doll, she soon learns that with every lie she speaks, a new crack forms on her skin. What happens when she is faced with the decision to either save her own skin or tell that last lie to save the prince? Can she make the ultimate sacrifice?
