Max Lawson doesn’t belong here. The California surf boy has no business being up Spruce Mountain or anywhere near The Last Resort Motel. There can only be one reason he’s hanging around, to search one of the old mines in hopes of striking it rich. And as soon as he’s done, he’ll be gone fast enough to make my head spin. Out here, a girl needs to take advantage of any opportunity for a little fun, but it can never be more. I just need to remind myself of that.
Aurora Clayton is the last thing I expect to find at The Last Resort Motel. What in the world is a girl like this doing in the middle of nowhere, Nevada? My plan is to search the mine and get back to California. I never expect to find something here even more precious than ore. But someone else is after what’s down that mine shaft. And I’ll do everything in my power to protect what I’ve found, including Aurora.

The Last Resort Motel: Room One by Gwyn McNamee is the first instalment in a series of twelve stories by twelve different writers. I had read The Hawke Family series by Gwyn before so I knew that I was going to get a tasty treat AND I was not mistaken! The Last Resort Motel: Room One is the story of the ‘Californian surfer boy’ Max Lawson and motel owner Aurora Clayton. It is a story that combines hot steamy romance with mystery and suspense … Both Max and Aurora (and the other mixed bag of characters that we meet in the story) are lovable and easy to relate to! The writing style makes the reading of the story like watching a movie! Can you imagine it – this old rundown motel in the middle of nowhere and those 2 young people with intense chemistry (or love at first sight) and one of them not planning to stay for long … You will be at the edge of your seat until the end hoping for the best … And just think, there will be another eleven stories taking place at that rundown motel (which is really not so rundown by the end of the first story) … cannot wait to get my hands on the next one!
The Last Resort Motel: Room One by Gwyn McNamee is the first book of twelve in this series and it has it all a chance meeting and romance between Max and Aurora. It has adventure and suspense it is an all around great story. Gwen McNamee is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine I have read multiple books of hers now and I love all of them. Her writing style quickly draws you in and takes hold of you so you are right there in the story with the characters. This is definitely a 5 star read. I cannot wait to read the next 12 in this series to see where the adventure takes us.
The Last Resort Motel has a perfect mix of unique, lovable characters in this brilliantly written adventure full of action and steamy romance. Utterly entertaining from cover to cover. I absolutely LOVE Gwyn's work. Every beautifully articulated chapter had me holding my breath or panting with lust. Excited to see what the next eleven installments in this series bring. Aurora is young, beautiful and alone. Trying to keep the hotel her parents left her afloat. However Spruce Mountain is a lonely, desolate place. Not many opportunities for a girl to have some fun. Until Max rolls up in his sports car with his drool worthy California surfer good looks. These two have an immediate attraction to each other. Which builds to a smoldering crescendo after being stoked by what they hear through the thin wall that separates them. Talk about fueling the fire -- these two are scorching! They start spending time together which quickly escalates from a friendly hike to check out Max's families mine -- to an action packed, bullet dodging, explosive endeavor. Aurora is a realist and expects a few days of fun before Max's business on the mountain is done. Max's feelings for Aurora and his internal dialogue are awesome. What does the future hold for these two? Just a hot encounter? Or does one of them want more? The amazing writing gave me a very vivid image of the gorgeous scenery. I could visualize the beautiful trees and mountains. Even the dilapidated hotel. Clear in my head. All created with Gwyn's words! Fantastic. This book is just another example of this author's impeccable creative & writing abilities. Huge fan. I count down to every new release.
The Last Resort Motel by Gwyn McNamee is a fantastic book about unexpected love in the most delicious way. Aurora Clayton runs her family roadside Motel, and while she is doing everything she can it is barely staying afloat. No matter what Aurora tries to do the location of the hotel isn’t helping bring the big business in needed to keep it going. When the last customer arrives for the day she is taken aback by the handsome stranger. Enter, Max Lawson, who is too sexy for his own good, and all but spells big trouble for girls like Aurora. While Max is there totally for business, meeting Aurora just made this trip about pleasure first and business second. McNamee has such a great way about her writing that just sucks in the reader from the first word until the last. It is almost impossible not to love everything she has written. The Last Resort Motel is the first book in a twelve book series by twelve different authors. I would totally recommend picking up each of these books, just like I have, because this is definitely a series that you don’t want to miss.
The Last Resort Motel: Room One by Gwyn McNamee is one of twelve books in this series by twelve different authors. If I had to describe this book with one word it would be WOW! I loved this book and can't wait for the next one to come out! This is one of my favorite books by this author. I love her books as I know I can always count on hot, steamy romance with suspense added, this one is no different. Her writing style is such that the story is easy flowing and fast paced. She pulled me in from the very first word and I didn't put it down until the last word and I still wanted more. Her characters are lovable, connectable and true to life. They will pull you into their story with ease and keep you there until the last word. There are a few twists and turns that will either leave you sitting on the edge of your seat or just plain needing to cool off. This story is about second chances and love at first sight. Aurora lost her parents six months ago and was left a run down motel. She is a little bored with her daily life until he walks through the door. He is hot and sexy and she can't stop looking at him. He is not the typical person she is use to seeing at her motel. Max was left some land by his family and has decided to check it out before deciding what to do with it. His plan was to check out the mine and go back home but then he met her. Her thoughts were what can a little fun hurt after all he will be leaving. The last thing either one expected to find was each other. What will happen when Max realizes that someone else is after what is in that mine? How far is he willing to protect what is his and does that include Aurora? I loved both of these characters! They have such a strong chemistry that they are just made for each other but the problem is that he is not planning on staying. Their attraction for each other is just off the charts and you don't want to miss it! She is a lot stronger then she first appears in this story. I loved watching her come out of her shell and letting herself feel. He has a past life that she questions and he is not so forth coming with but she still finds herself trusting him. This is a must read story and I highly recommend you read it. You have to see how this story ends and if there is a happy ending to this suspenseful, mysterious, love at first sight story.
The Last Resort Motel: Room One by Gwyn McNamee 5 Stars What a quick fun read, and I love this idea of the 12 authors writing stories about 12 different rooms at The Last Resort Motel, one reason will be because that means Max and Aurora will have to be in the following books since Aurora owns the motel. This really was a book full of content even though quite short, I enjoyed the adventure and the twists involving the mine. I loved how the story flowed so easily and before I knew it I was done. This author is not new to me, she is actually one of my favorites, and her writing style is always spot on I can not wait for the rest of the stories that are coming in this collection and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for The Last Resort Motel and its occupants.
