It's hate at first sight.

Carmine Montesi is a killer disguised as a refined lawyer.
He's a loyal member of the notorious mafia - the Chicago Syndicate - and the boss just happens to be his brother.
He has wealth, influence, and sinful looks and is rejected by no woman.
Until the moment feisty Eva ruins his New Year's Eve, when one heated encounter starts an illicit underworld game, placing them on opposite sides.

Eva Conley is an escort.
She's working to make the money she desperately needs to pay an outstanding debt. That is, until he gets her fired.

Carmine's only supposed to be her assignment.
And Eva's the one woman he isn't allowed to fall for.

Because neither of them can sleep with the enemy and make it out alive...

I've enjoyed all of the previous books in this series and this one was no different. This books gives us Eva and Carmine's story. The back and forth banter and games between Carmine and Eva will keep you entertained. There was a bit of suspense, obsession, revenge, betrayal, killings, drug deals and everything that a great mafia story entails. The chemistry between Eva and Carmine was definitely there, along with steamy sex scenes. I thought that what happened between Adriano and Carmine would lead to a place I did not want the story to go, but it was so exciting to read. I was so excited to see who would back down first. That scene was probably one of my favorites in this story besides the ending. The ending was sweet and readers get an update on the whole family and their loved ones with new additions. This is one series of standalone stories that I have enjoyed a lot and would definitely recommend to readers.

Oh man, another to add to my favorites for sure. I have been hooked to this series since the first book and I can't even tell you how happy I am that I was somehow introduced to this author and her work. This is a series that you just want to keep going forever because you fall in love with all the characters and their stories. Although this is a standalone I am the type to want to read a series from the beginning and you won't regret it in the least. You will still enjoy this book if you don't start at the beginning. This book had me from the beginning and never let go until the end. I was completely emotionally invested and my emotions just experienced such an emotional ride. You will be feeling such a wide range of emotions. There will be times that you will want to throttle the characters for their behavior, you will break down in tears because of what they go through, you will want to rally with them to find out what everyone is plotting and so much more. I highly recommend this book and I really hope that there is another to this series. If you are a fan of mafia romance then this is one that you might want to check out. I don't go out of my way to read a lot of mafia romance but this is one that I absolutely adore and its because of Soraya's talent that it is hard not to love her books. This book will have you sucked in and not being able to put it down until you read the end.

What starts out as Eva Conley doing her job – she’s a reluctant escort – turns into a wild ride of life and death for her. She literally runs into Carmine Montesi, a lawyer for the Mafia, and both their lives are turned upside down. Serious twists and turns, ups and downs, and complicated Chicago Syndicate events that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. I won’t try to give you an overview as the author does an amazing job of laying out twists and turns to keep you guessing but know that it is a seriously smexy book, especially with Carmine the Alpha (!), with many touching moments as well. A very realistic look at a ‘connected’ Italian family. Whoa.

Wow! What a book! I've been meaning to read more mafia romance, and I have found my fix! This was my first Soraya Naomi book, and won't be my last. I have already gone out and bought the other books in the series. Having never read any of the other books, this one is definitely a standalone, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It just makes me want to read about the others in this close-knit family. There is plenty of suspense and simmering attraction to make this a very great read, consuming me once I started. This story focuses on Carmine and Eva. Eva comes from the wrong side of the tracks, with her own regrets about life, but she's a fighter and survivor. She also has a bit of a mouth on her, which thoroughly entertained me. Carmine is a smooth-talking womanizer and lawyer, surrounded by a loving family and big problems in business that bring Eva in the middle of it. The two just keep meeting one another and get more involved, and in a place where it is hard to trust, these two learn. The bond that forms between them is borne out of a lot of time together, so while it does develop a little quickly, it nonetheless feels organic. The attraction was there, but the tension from the lack of trust really added a lot. Seeing them fall was so believable. And hot! Overall I really loved this book! It gave me feels in all the right places, with family drama, growing affection, healthy doses of suspense, and more. If you like a book that keeps you guessing as the story twists, along with your romance, you should definitely check out this book! I highly recommend it. It's written and edited well, paced just right as everything happens. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review. I also bought the book because I loved it so much.

Wrong place. Wrong time. Wrong, wrong guy. But it's all so very right. Carmine is a dominant, arrogant jerk. He has money and power and he's used to getting his own way. Eva has none of those things. She's trading on the only commodity left to her in order to make ends meet. These two strike sparks off each other from the very first pages of the book. That chemistry rapidly turns into a lust-hate relationship. As circumstances force Carmine and Eva to work with each other and as the masks start to slip, that lust develops into something deeper. There are so many layers to this story. Just when you think they've got it all figured out, you turn the page and discover just how much more is going on under the surface. Who's telling the truth? Who's double-crossing who? And why? And how the heck is it all going to come together in the end? It's brutal and beautiful by turns; sweet and sadistic. There are things in this book that are not nice by any definition but they're balanced by the moments of domestic bliss we see of the members of the Syndicate and their families. Every book I read about these characters makes me want to read even more. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

This is an extremely intense story filled with betrayal, deception and suspense that captured my attention and held it from the first page to the end. I have read all of the Chicago Syndicate books and Carmine Montesi was the most arrogant, out-spoken and mysterious one in the bunch. He is a cold blooded killer, lawyer and the Consigliere for the syndicate with a rough exterior but I fell in love with him. Carmine was known as a womanizer without the time for a relationship until Eva Conley. Eva Conley is working to support her younger brother, Brandon by any means yet when she meet Carmine through unexpected events Eva troubles begins. The author never disappoints her readers with her unique style and plots and this one is no exception. I truly enjoyed the updated events from the other characters from this series. There is so much more to this awesome story and I refuse to spoil your reading pleasure. This is an amazing story....just get it because you won’t regret it!
