The decision of Leach and Hamada to establish a pottery at St. Ives was for craftsmanpotters the most significant event of the twentieth century. The first part of the book is an essay on the setting up of the St. Ives Pottery and its subsequent history is illustrated with about 60 archive photographs, many from Janet Leach's collection and never before published. Part two contains profiles of more than 60 craftsmen and women associated with the pottery, each with photographs of the potter and examples of his or her work and, in many cases, their marks.
