Book 3 in the Unspoken Series

After her husbands death, Heidi Chase refuses to take off her rings and swears another man will never steal her heart. She is extremely faithful and while her friends think it's virtue binding her to the past, it's really fear.

Patrick Wheldon never intended to give his heart to Heidi. Not until her vows to her previous husband were no longer standing between them. But he did and the relationship between them quickly changes into a battle he's not sure he has the strength to fight.

Follow Heidi and Patrick as they question the definition of soul-mates and discover the true meaning of love.

Best when read after Where Love Finds You and Down from the Clouds, but it can stand-alone.

FIrst Pages - Sneak a Peek
Snowflakes piled up on each other as I rocked Riley to sleep. The ground turned white as I thought of the things I kept hidden. The rings on my left hand sparkled in the glow of a candle, reminding me of the lies. I tried to convince myself that a secret is only a lie if it harms someone. For so long my secrets only harmed myself. Now, sweet Patrick introduced himself to my life and pretended to not fall in love with me. And my secrets would harm him if he got too close. So I built a wall between us to keep him from the truth. The heartbreak.

I called him my best friend. Nothing more. He accepted that. He accepted everything. Sometimes I wished he weren't so nice. Sometimes I wished he would pry the truth out of me and set me free. But he didn't know. No one did. My lies were so real that I grew to believe them myself.

Snowflakes pressed against the window. I placed Riley in her crib, on her side like she liked. Her eyes flickered and then closed. I longed for the kind of peace she had. Soon life would steal it from her too. A life of many painful surgeries and nights in the hospital. A life without her father.

I laid my cheek against the cold window. Inhaled.

"You can do this," I whispered to myself.

Marilyn Grey does it again in creating such a Beautiful Love Story for these wonderful characters flaws and all, that makes you want to keep reading more and more, and not wanting to ever stop until you've reached the very last page. I must say Wow just Wow!! This was just absolutely wonderful I really enjoyed reading this book so very much. I loved reading about how Heidi and Patrick worked through their own issues and circumstances hoping they could possibly be together at some point if that was what was meant to be for them. Definitely some heartbreaking moments, as well as happiness, and a little mystery lurking there too. Which I always like a smidgen of mystery thrown in to keep you on your toes. The little twists and surprises keep you reading wanting to know so much more. Let alone looking for that happy ending that they both deserve after dealing with such heartbreak in their lives. There were also some very sweet and cute little moments. Loved this one just as much as reading about Matthew, Ella and Gavin's stories in the prior books. I love how you get little bits of the other characters throughout, which just makes the story flow easily from one book to the next even with adding new characters along the way. Plus getting those little pieces of info on prior main characters keeps you updated on them too. It makes you want to continue reading so you can learn more about their stories, struggles, passions, and hopeful happiness as well. I truly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it as well as reading first if possible "Where Love Finds You" then continuing with "Down from the Clouds" before reading "The Life I Now Live." It's not necessary to read the prior books, but you learn so much more about these lovely characters if you do. I can't wait to continue reading these wonderful books in "The Unspoken Series" with Heart on a Shoestring. Thank you so much Marilyn Grey for adding a little joy to my day by writing such a beautiful story to read, because it was a total and complete pleasure.! :)

"real love is more than good feelings and butterflies in the stomach. It's faithfulness even when its painful. Joy even when you want to cry. And patience when you want to scream. It's the opposite of everything negative and the wholeness of everything positive." I love this quote for the simple fact that is a perfect, rose colored glasses taken off view of love. You can sense with both Heidi and Patrick that they are bound by their sense of duty and that at some point the warm happy fuzzy part of love deepens into something that is more massive and deserves to be valued than those happy fuzzy moments you experience when a relationship is new. These have been my favorite 2 characters in the series so far and while the story took some twists and turns where I thought I might not like the way this ends it ended in exactly the perfect manner. With the descriptiveness I have come to expect from Marilyn such as this passage "A dogwood tree shedding its white flowers around us. The sun, now rising on the other side of the ocean, offering us a final Ray of Amber loght before saying farewell." It gives us a perfect setting to experience a beautiful love story. We continue to see characters we have met in previous books so that part is one of my favorite aspects of the series, it feels very organic and seamless like it could not have been written any other way. But as a avid reader i have read plenty of series where an author makes you fall in love with even the minor characters and then never mentions them again, which makes it difficult for me to get invested in a series. Marilyn has created a whole world with these characters and it makes all the difference. We get to see glimpses of what everybody is doing and it becomes like checking in with our friends. On my way to begin book 4 now

Check out the full review at Kritters Ramblings The third book in the series that centers around a different set of characters - Heidi and Patrick.  Although like in the past books in the series, you get updates on other characters, it was interesting to see the group through a new set of eyes.  Both characters lost their original spouses and are trying to deal with picking up the pieces after this sort of tragedy occurs.   I loved seeing this way of how a couple can form through helping each other through difficult times.  There is a twist in this one that threw me for a loop, but I liked it!  Heidi was definitely introduced in the first two books, but to see her take center stage and to learn even more about her was interesting.  I thought I would be sad to see someone else take the center, but I was wrong, I loved it!

"Emotions aren't always from the heart." This is true. Sometimes it's in the state of mind and the way of thinking of a person. The reason I have to read it the 2nd time is because reading it immediately after "Down From The Clouds" affects my state-of-mind. The whole book is not lengthy and dragging kind but SATISFYING and enough. This book is immensly different from the 1st and 2nd book by showing how love stories aren't always a fairytale. The love story of Heidi and Patrick is NOT. It is the kind that readers could imagine commonly happening in reality. It is not the too-sweet-and-cuddly-and-eyes-shining story, characters here deal with reality and questioning the "what-ifs" and "buts" that most of us do question about. Some are answered and some are left for us to discover. Another reason why I like this book is the mentioning of diseases/conditions that is rare (and you probably haven't heard about it too). As to why author, Marilyn Grey, chose these, I want to know too. Lastly, how she let the story evolve and yet keeping it from turnig into a story like Ella and Gavin's; and how Heidi's personality is a guy's being the one who find ways to keep them in touch and Patrick the guy whose heart has been trampled over and over. A book you wouldn't want to miss reading! :)

But what is love if the heart falls for someone else? Does true love stay faithful even after death? "You are the only person who can answer these questions yourself." Like the first two books, The Life I Now Live gives me a lot to think about and it gave me a lot of other perspectives on the things I was already thinking about. What I like most in this series, and in this book, is that it's like my mind has been put into a book. A lot of things I've been wondering about has been showing up in this series, and now I can't wait to see what the next book's questions will be. I love Heidi's personality. I love her when she realizes that she really isn't that strong woman her friends seem to think she is, and that she's just living her complicated life one day at a time. What I love the most about her is that promises are so important to her and she strives to hang on to her words and do what she promised to do even though she's on the verge of being hurt. I can't decide how I feel about Patrick, though I like how he does what he thinks Heidi needed. Sometimes, though, he seems 'girly'. That's the reason I'm rating this only four stars. But I like how faithful he is, and how caring. Marilyn Grey's twists are very interesting, and I like how she surprises her readers. I like how she throws in other characters and give a glimpse and builds anticipation on what the next book will be. Kudos, miss Grey. I'm looking forward on the next books (especially Sarah's and Myra's story!) :)

I honestly can't get enough of this series. Just stumbled upon Marilyn Grey by accident on twitter or something and it intrigued me. I actually read Down fro the Clouds first, then went back and read the first book (definitely recommend reading those in order). I couldn't wait for this book to come out. It's so beautiful.... I can't stop thinking about these characters and I so wish that the fourth book would come out NOW instead of February! Waiting three months for each one is torture, but kind of worth it. I'm in awe that there will be 10 books total, but anyway... this book is different than the first two, but just as beautiful. The writing is really good and the plot keeps you on your toes. Marilyn has had a twist in every book so far and she always gets me. Don't know how she does it.  I seriously love the relationship between Patrick and Heidi and the struggles they endure. I have to say, the ending really surprised me. I didn't expect that to happen, but I do love the ending. It was perfect and I'm so happy that they both found what they needed. It made me cry at certain parts and smile at others. I think I even laughed out loud. Great book, great series, great new author that I'm sure people will be raving about for years to come. Amazing nugget of gold. SO happy to have found these books!

Oh I just loved this book! I read it in one sitting and was soo sad when it was over. Marilyn has a great style and impeccable instincts when it comes to her stories. I am a huge fan and look forward to reading the next one. Heidi and Patrick will melt your heart in this one and by the end of it, they will have you captivated. With a few shocks throughout and the romance as always, it will not disappoint!

Here it goes again: The never ending twists and surprises of Miss Grey in her stories. There is so much to learn on this 3rd book. Besides that I feel happy and pleased with how the story went, my sympathy for Heidi's roller coaster life lingers. I adore how Heidi remains so strong despite of everything. Plus, just when I'm about to accept the fact that Patrick and Heidi is never meant to be together, that sudden spice of the story turned up! And... I love the quotations I get in there. I love highlighting every thoughts that strike me most.  I have more to say about this but I'm simply holding back in the fear of spoiling the readers. Ugh! This is hard. For now, I'll just leave this as it is. THIS IS WORTH READING. MARK.MY.WORDS. :)

Wow, another amazing book from Marilyn Grey. This series just keeps getting better. I love the twists that are always a part of these books. These characters pull you in and won't let you go. Heidi is such a faithful person and Patrick is such a great guy.I couldn't put the book down until I was done. This book can be read alone, but I would recommend reading the series in order. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.
