The Parkin family is a close knit group that enjoy the Christmas season. As the children have grown older and most are out of the home, the father is having a hard time enjoying the traditions of the season and it's joy. His younger children try to help, but he's too caught up in his own depression to see it. When they get word that their son is injured onboard his ship, all their worst nightmares seem to have come true and they don't know how to deal with a bleak Christmas with the thought he might be dead. How they find hope and joy in the season is sure to become a family favorite to read every year.
