The Little Pumpkin Bookby Katy Bratun
Illustrated in full color. In the spring, two children plant some pumpkin seeds. They tend the plants all summer and harvest the pumpkins come fall, when it's time to carve them into jack-o'-lanterns and bake them into pies. When springtime rolls around again, they plant the seeds they've been saving all winter long.

My son liked it as a baby, and he still does as a two-year-old. It's nice to have a change from talking animals. A year is a big block of time for a little one's mind, and this is a delightful illustration of the cycle. Speaking of delightful illustrations, kudos to the illustrator for all the engrossing little details.
