For Tess Kendrick, a junior at the elite Hardwicke School in Washington D.C., fixing runs in the family. But Tess has another legacy, too, one that involves power and the making of political dynasties. When Tess is asked to run a classmate's campaign for student council, she agrees. But when the candidates are children of politicians, even a high school election can involve life-shattering secrets.

Meanwhile, Tess's guardian has also taken on an impossible case, as a terrorist attack calls into doubt who can—and cannot—be trusted on Capitol Hill. Tess knows better than most that power is currency in Washington, but she's about to discover first-hand that power always comes with a price.

Perfect for fans of Harlan Coben and Ally Carter, the second book in this thrilling series will leave readers breathless.

Ms. Barnes keeps the suspense up to the end, with some twists I never saw coming. Unfortunate she won't be writing a third book.

So this book was everything I hoped it would be and more. I had heard it was only set to be a duology and I've been praying that's not the case. This series needs more. This book was too good for it to just end there. And with the bomb that Barnes dropped? There HAS to be more. The synopsis makes readers think this is all about a student election and the things that Tess encounters at school along the way. I'm here to tell you it's about way more than that. Its about things you'd never see coming. So many secrets, lies, and more are sprung up during this exciting sequel. If I didn't say so before, Barnes is a freaking genius. She's the only thriller writer so far who has stumped me or given me something I didn't see coming more than once. And that's saying something because I can usually call them ALL. Barnes is a great writer who knows how to bring the twists and turns. And because of this series alone I will read any thriller she puts out! It was really great to be with this cast of characters again as well! I loved seeing how they were more developed and all the new things we found out about them. Especially the bomb that was dropped at the end. I mean I saw it coming from the way the storyline was going, but for the confirmation, it kind of sent chills down my spine. This book was so good and reminded me why I love thrillers. While reading my heart was racing and I had to put the book down to slow down for fear of a heart attack. This book will drive you crazy, but in the best way possible. I'm already waiting on the next book and I'm not even sure there will be one yet! lol

I loved THE FIXER, so I was super excited to read the next installment, and it definitely disappoint. There was a ton of crazy action in THE FIXER, and, somehow, Jennifer Lynn Barnes managed to fit even more in THE LONG GAME. Tess has to battle terrorists, bullies, family revelations, and a heartbreaking betrayal in a novel that sets the bar high for all other mystery/thrillers. Honestly, Jennifer Lynn Barnes is such fantastic author that you just know that anything she writes is going to be amazing, and THE LONG GAME is definitely no different. Fingers crossed that we get a third book!

I LOVED the Fixer, and this one started off with the same excitement for me. And then the major plot point just stretched my credibility a little far. It was violent. It was sudden. And the "terrorist" group was super vague. Also there was a plot twist that angered me in a way plot twists haven't gotten to me in a while. I was obviously still super emotionally invested in this world and these characters though.

Just finished this wonderful, soul gutting book... and I am a mess. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW! Everybody has to start this series. Tess, our main character, is smart, determined, meddlesome, and amazing. She gets herself into many wild schemes and plots that had me on the edge of my seat. Our other characters, Ivy, Henry, Asher, Vivvie, Emilia, Bodie, and Adam, are all interesting, unique, and lovable in their own way (sometimes). The relationship between Ivy and Tess is so wonderful and tough and emotionally hard to read about. I was enjoying the ride (A LOT) for the first half of the novel. BUT then the ending came and it killed me. I'm dead. So many twists... So many political games and intense scenes. My heart couldn't handle it all. The Long Game is dark, sometimes funny, smart as a whip, twisty, and overall brilliant.. Read this book. Also, I really really really want book #3. So tell all your friends about this series! PLEASE for my sake and well being.

I read this book in a day. It's a little slow to start because it's a sequel, and Barnes is giving the back story from the first book, but once that is finished, the action doesn't stop. Crazy thing after crazy thing happens, and I loved it! I really enjoy the characters and the relationships in this series (is it still called a series if there are only two books?). The relationships are just as intense as in the first book, and the characters continue to develop. This book kept me guessing, and that made it hard to put this book down. The plot is a little over-the-top, but I just decided to go with it. If you're not into unbelievable storylines, you might want to skip this one. But if you love high action, political thrillers, this book is amazing. Things wrapped up well at the end of this book because I know Barnes doesn't have a contract for a third book. But at the same time, there is an opening if she is able to continue the story. I had been looking forward to this book for a while, and I was not disappointed.

Maybe I've gone too long without reading (three months, people! Three excruciating months), but this book had me captivated from start to finish. I don't think it's the case, though; my heart was pounding so hard in my chest and my mind is still whirling, trying to form coherent thoughts. To say The Long Game left me speechless would be an underestimate. I feel like I ran a marathon. An emotional one. A treacherous one, full with twists and turns. In the dark. Yes, I think that describes The Long Game best. If you don't know who Jennifer Lynn Barnes is, she's a YA mystery-thriller author who knows how to combine romance, humor and action-mystery in the best kind of way. You should check out The Naturals - the first book in The Naturals series. Or you can start with The Fixer - the first book in The Fixer series. Being it the second book in The Fixer series, I can't tell you all that much about it without spoiling anything. So... read it and then come back and tell me all about it. Believe me, you'll have a lot to say. Okay? Great (: Let the spoilers begin. For the full review (with spoilers), please visit my blog: *The review was longer than the allowed word count* (:

After reading and LOVING The Fixer, I couldn't wait to get my hands on The Long Game! I never would have thought I would enjoy political thrillers, but man, Jennifer Lynn Barnes has sold me! There are so many twists and turns that I did NOT see coming! I was seriously floored! I love books that take me by surprise like that! I will keep my thoughts brief, as I do not want to include any spoilers from The Fixer, as there are plenty of twists and turns in that one as well! Tess has become known as a fixer at her school and while she doesn't really relish the job, she still ends up doing it. She doesn't like seeing her classmates treated unjustly and no matter how much she says she's not going to, she always finds her way into the middle of the fray! Her relationship with Ivy is definitely strained after things came to light in the previous book, but I really like the way Barnes developed that relationship. It's realistic and raw and I just love it. I also love Adam too and am still holding out for him and Ivy to get together! The gang is all back in this one and there's a hint of a romance! I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, but I was totally on board! However, things get... complicated. That's a good word for it. :) And that's all you'll get from me. Action, adventure, intrigue, secrets, betrayal... it's all here in this second book in the series! I am really hoping Barnes gets contracted for a third novel because oh my goodness I need closure and answers! I highly recommend these books- they are so much fun and they read so fast!

This book was amazing. I read it within a few hours. I loved Tess in the first book. She's a strong-willed girl, who despite the challenges she faces, always goes into them full force. She's the same. This book had many twists I did not see coming. They literally took me by surprise. The Long Game was heart-wrenching and suspenseful. I do have many questions, which I hope can get answered in a third book. She left it open enough that if offered, she could write a third book. However, there was a great sense of closure. For those who like YA thrillers, this is definitely one you should read.

This book was absolutely incredible and such a strong follow-up to The Fixer. I read it in less than 24 hours because I could not put it down. It was very intense, and so much happened! I loved all the characters in this one just as much as in the last one, and I especially loved getting to know Emilia better! Seeing the different relationships in this book get tested was really interesting, especially Tess getting to know her grandfather and how that impacted her relationship with Ivy. Overall, this book was incredible and I'm extremely excited for the next one! I can't wait to see where everything that happened in this one leads.

This book left me speechless. Just when I thought all the twists were done, Jennifer Lynn Barnes always had another one. I hope there is a next book!

Wow. This one left me a little speechless. I'm not usually one for politics and that sort of story, but I was sucked in by the first book and couldn't wait to read this one. Tess and her group of friends are interesting. I've always like Tess's headstrong personality. She smart and conniving without being horrible and cold. I love that she's all brains and that she's able to connect the dots in places others don't see. However, Asher will always be my favorite. There is a lot going on in this book. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something would be revealed and it would blow my mind. And I'm still reeling from the ending. I can't wait for the next book. **Huge thanks to Bloomsbury and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
