Overview

The Lost Wolf Warrior by Rae Monet

The year is 1311. Serena de Reincolt, a young Warrior of the Wolf, is tasked with a quest: Retrieve the sacred scrolls of Solaria and the outlawed murderer, Ziem.

Failure means certain death for the Solarians.

Found at age six in the Forest of the Dean with no memory of his former life, Lord Roan Aston, The Wolf, has always felt a part of him was missing.

One thing Roan knows for certain--he is finished with warring. Taking up King Edward's offer to protect a castle on the Scottish border, Roan is as content as he can be.

It wasn't until Roan met an incredible woman in the most extraordinary circumstances that he pieced together his purpose in life. But their journey is fraught with danger and a vengeful King who will stop at nothing less than eradication of all those he feels threaten his rule.

Suddenly, Roan and Serena are protecting more than a society of gifted people; they are fighting for their lives, their love, and a fantastic legend.

A trickle of spilled blood ran down the neck of Cloudykit's. "It's only a briar," Woodpeckerkit argued. "But it hurts," said Viperkit. Waterfallkit rolled his eyes. The rest of the elders had gathered. "Caramelstar! Caramelstar!" Spookedcow the deputy ran around. "Yes?" A snort came from Caramelstar. "Honeypool is gone!" Cats peeked out of dens. Midnightpaw & Crackpaw poked thier heads through the brambles. Wetfeather squinted. "Where you looking for me?" Honeypool creeped out with Starfishglee by her side. "Yes,they were," said a voice. "And Woodpeckerkit is mine."

After the War By Glimmer My amber eyes fluttered open, but I remained in my nest, thinking of the blur that was yesterday. I remembered Bramblestar's eyes closing for the last time, the badger's face as Dawnstream, Kingrush, and Mapleflame drove it away, my shock at being chosen as deputy, the clan's reaction. Bramblestar was a good leader, wise and kind and brave. I sighed, then got up. I yawned, padding out of the den to set patrols. Just a normal day in Thunderclan. Or so I thought. "Hazellight, Frostburst, Daystep, and..." I glanced around. "... Spiritfeather, you go patrol the Shadowclan border." The silky white tom nodded, stretching. "Lets go, guys." "And girls!" Hazellight commented, the tabby making her way over to the entrance. "Coming, Frostburst? Frostburst!" "All right, no need to wake the whole clan!" Frostburst grumbled, shaking his blue-white pelt. "I'm coming!" Daystep was a step behind him. "Jeez, one day as a warrior and she thinks she's deputy!" He muttered. "I heard that!" Hazellight's shrill voice rang out. She glared at Daystep with a fiery green gaze. I chuckled to myself as the group left. "Raincloud, Fernstream, Chipmunksplash, and Moonheart, you hunt by the Twoleg den." "Got it, Embermoon!" Raincloud licked down a gray tuft of fur and joined her littermate by the entrance. "Moonheart?" Fernstream's voice was soft. "Are you coming?" She gasped as he nudged her from behind, and whirled. "Hey!" She shoved him. While Moonheart protested, Chipmunksplash appeared outside the warrior's den. "Hey, don't leave without me!" As I was about to call Glassstar to ask him who he wanted to going to the Gathering, thunder crashed and lightning struck a tree. It split in half. "What's going on?" "Whoa, look at the Sky Tree!" "Where is Glassstar?" Apparently, the rest of the clan had been roused by the noise. The last comment caught my attention. "Glassstar's gone?" Fireclaw turned. "Yeah, we can't find Glassstar anywhere! It's like he vanished off the face of the earth." I gasped, but my mind grasped the last words. Like he vanished off the face of the earth.

Wolfstar, we shouldn't have to vote. Duskstar, do the right thing and resign. Or things will get ugly. I get angry easily.
