About the Author

John's passion for writing and desire to be an author has burned bright since childhood. A native New Yorker, the best part of the Sunday Times was always the book review. Post college graduation, he pursued a career in journalism, including stints at a trade magazine covering the beer industry (not as sexy as it sounds), a Long Island weekly, a national football magazine, and a daily paper in Sacramento.

A career change to marketing communications occurred after his return east from California. Stops along the way have included Burson-Marsteller, one of the most prestigious PR firms in the world. For the past eleven years, he has led the marketing communications department at one of the largest independent blood centers in the nation.

Favorite authors include Stephen King, Robert Parker, Erik Larson and Michael Crichton. Areas of interest include film (anything by Steven Spielberg) and sports. John openly acknowledges living and dying with his rooting interests, none more so then the New York Jets, Nebraska football, and his alma mater, St. Bonaventure University.

Non-sports life highlights include attending The Police concert at Shea Stadium in 1983 and watching the sun rise over the Sydney Opera House many, many years after 1983.

John lives in Pittsburgh, is a big fan of craft beers and would eat French Toast 365 days a year if he could.

“The Loved One” is not what you expect. And that’s why I really enjoyed it. The story is unique and captivating, as well as a bit disconcerting considering the age difference between Kim and Matt. The writing is done well and allows the reader to understand the torment that Matt is feeling throughout the book. I was quite surprised with the story line. Only at the end, do you realize that what you think is real, is not.
