I didn't enjoy it. It's a seedy plot, sure, and I won't deny that sex and violence abound, but I didn't get the dramatic feeling from the main character that I've gotten from the classic hard-boileds; he just felt sad or disappointed, mostly. The bad guys were certainly creepy enough that I don't want to read more about similar.
