Luck is no lady … in fact, she can be a downright bitch.
Let’s get one thing straight. I am not your typical girl. Sure, I have all the parts, but I’ve been a stubborn, irreverent tomboy since the womb. Which makes it particularly ironic that my heart is so damn girlie. It falls in love at the drop of a hat and leaves me to deal with the aftermath. But no more! If Jake Beckett thinks spending one night together gives him some claim on me, he’s got another thing coming—even if the mere thought of that night leaves me panting like a damn Labrador. I’m not about to open the door and let Jake in, but that choice may be taken from both our hands.
Coming home was supposed to be my shot at redemption. Instead, I’m finding myself chasing after an irresistible blonde whose mercurial behavior could give Jekyll and Hyde a run for their money. I’ve got too much on my plate to get tied up in knots over a girl who wants nothing to do with me. But, as luck would have it, Bailey Murphy may hold the key to my redemption, and I’m not giving up on either without a fight.

About the Author
A recent move to North Carolina inspired Sylvie's debut Romantic Comedy series. Carolina Connections is a collection of standalone novels based in her new hometown, and it combines her love of romance, humor, and sexy times. There is also some wine drinking incorporated in there, as this is another of Sylvie's passions. Perhaps a future story will also involve kayaking, a new interest in Sylvie's life. Experience has taught her that you can't kayak and drink wine simultaneously, though, so don't try this at home!
The Fix, The Spark, and The Lucky One are now available. More projects and new installments to the Carolina Connections series are in the works. That is, if Sylvie's eight-year-old twins will stop trying to peek at her laptop while she's writing. That might lead to some awkward parent-teacher conferences.

Have you ever read a book where the main character was so similar to you, it's almost freaky? This book was like that for me, and then some. Bailey is similar enough to me, I was able to guess what she'd do before it happened in the book, and I was always right. The author had her character traits and development so on point, it was fantastic. Needless to say, I connected with this story immediately. Bailey's character pulled me in, and I just had to see what happened between her and Jake. I loved how authentic they were in their relationship, and how realistic they were both portrayed. They each had a past, they each had goals, and they each had issues they had to get over. Not only to be together, but to grow as people, which is always wonderful to watch. The side characters were awesome as well, and reading about each of their lives would definitely be interesting. They were all well-rounded, and made the whole story feel full of life. I adored the Irish themes, and truly think this would make an amazing movie. It has every rise and dip of emotional tension you need for a great story, with plenty of humor to keep the pace fresh. The only reason I took off a rose, is because it does have several sex scenes. Normally, I wouldn't even keep reading a book that has those sorts of things, however there was a disclaimer in the description on Goodreads, that I didn't see. Since it was my mistake, and the rest of the book was really, really good, I decided to keep reading, and simply take off a rose for personal preference. Had those scenes not been included (cleaner edition), this would be a solid 5 roses. I enjoyed this story and these characters more than most of the books I've read so far this year, and would definitely recommend to others. *I received a complimentary eCopy of this book, from the author, to read in exchange for an honest review. ~Rose @Desert Rose Reviews
