To preachy for me. Wanted a book about making things the old fashion way, while there is some of that. There is a lot of her preaching about God ....A LOT!
The Made from Scratch Life Simple Ways –to Create a – Natural Home By Melissa K. Norris I love the cover it makes you feel at home just looking at the medium blue color of the table that the honey jar lemons and the tool for the honey is sitting on. It is like taking a breath of fresh air right of the cover. Melissa talks about her town of a post office, bar and a gas station. The stop light is 40 miles from her home, that sounds like a great place for me I hate living in town. The mudslide that hit her town was devastating to say the least lives gone underneath 16 feet of mud that covered the road and valley the mountain had been sheared off. The way she talks of her family expresses a lot of love through the pages of her words. She always goes back to God our creator. I love the fact she always brings God into her pages and keeps him alive throughout this beautiful book. Melissa has all kinds of information from gardening from scratch to choosing the garden site. Melissa talks of her heirloom seeds but doesn’t say if or where you can find any something I felt she should have added if you could get an of those seeds. There are charts of plant, crop rotation, pest control. She has information on freezing, preserves. There are also a few recipes in this book. I recommend this book highly I think you will be happy you bought this book. This is a wonderful book and so much information to help you get started to a Scratch Life style. I received this book free from Harvest House for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review just an honest one. The opinions I have expressed are entirely my own and no one else’s. 5 Stars ISBN 978-0-7369-6534-7
