My husband and I are trying to conceive, so I got this book in order to figure out how to go through pregnancy and child birth in a way that fits my values/concerns. I'm not totally "crunchy" (not that being crunchy is a bad thing), so the info in this book is helping me find a balance in the medical and natural birth spheres. Plus, a lot of the info helps me realize I can and should have more control over my pregnant body than my current doctor led me to believe. I look forward to reading again and again as i prepare my body for baby :)

I wish this book was out for my first pregnancy! I was SO naive and uniformed and so many things happened that I wish hadn’t. I am not even pregnant but am studying this book in preparation for my next baby. This book is giving me the confidence to take charge of my body and my pregnancy next time. She tells you about all the options and doesn’t force her opinion on anyone but tells you what the realistic risks are for a VBAC, for vaccines, for a home birth, for a hospital birth, for an epidural and so much more! I have learned so much by reading this book, it is incredible! Not only that, but there are recipes and natural remedies and affirmations that are useful for anyone (so even if you’re not pregnant you could still benefit from owning this book)! When she says that this book is about empowerment not judgement she means it. She gives a week by week guide to your pregnancy and what might be occurring during this time, what you can do to help yourself and your baby, how dad can be involved, there is literally no stone unturned in this book. It is over 500 pages and I personally think she needs to write a book covering the baby’s first year to compliment this one- Mama Natural- I hope you’re reading this. I have read several pregnancy books and this is by far the best and most in-depth and from a perspective of information not fear. Everyone needs this book, I personally plan on gifting it to everyone I know having a baby. Even if you’re not “super crunchy” you can literally pick and choose which pieces of information are relevant to you and use them. She offers information in a variety of perspectives! Fair warning: this book MIGHT give you baby fever if you are not already pregnant! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I love this book! It is the book that we've all been waiting for... a week-by-week guide to pregnancy and childbirth from a natural perspective! It goes along perfectly with Mama Natural's week-by-week pregnancy text/email messages, her online blog articles and videos, her natural pregnancy affirmation cards, and her childbirth preparation course! Reading this book during my pregnancy has helped me to stay focused on having the healthiest pregnancy that I can (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) in preparation for a natural, unmedicated childbirth. There is so much information in the book to try or just to know about as things you can do to have the healthiest pregnancy and labor and delivery that you can have. I recommend this book to anyone who is pregnant (not only those who are pregnant with their first child!), anyone who is planning to become pregnant, or anyone who is just interested in the topic of pregnancy and birth! It is a great resource of information that you can put to use in your day-to-day life immediately!

Out of all the pregnancy and childbirth books I've read, this is one of my favorites . I love the weekly layout, affirmations and recipes!
