I bought this book for my both niece and nephew. They loved it! They found it fun and engaging--and I know they re-read it often. It offers some great messages that are hard to get across at this age...accepting yourself for who you are...how you fit into the world around you...the importance of being honest....and more. These lessons are wrapped around an interesting story and delighfully quirky characters. An overall great book!

This is a delightful tale, beautifully illustrated, about a creature few of us have ever seen. But she comes to life as we experience her longing to be a legendary being, a mermaid, at the same time she herself exhibits a caring attitude and gentleness toward others, and learns that she is indeed as lovely in her nature as anyone on the planet--above or under the water. In its charm and intelligence, this narrative is really for all ages.
