In Seagrove Village, former Shadow Watcher, Tim, receives a stunning text from his ex-fiancé, Mandy, on their secure phone. She's in trouble and needs help. Against objections-she'd broken their engagement to marry another man-Tim responds, and discovers NINA, Nihilists in Anarchy, an international terrorist group the Shadow Watchers have faced before, is after the team again. This time, through Mandy.
The breakup had devastated Tim, but what he discovers now forces him to work with Mandy to reveal yet another layer of operatives in the NINA organization. A layer that, for Mandy, strikes close to home and makes her The Marked Bride.
Few are who they seem. Facts are mercurial. And even those fighting this enemy on the Shadow Watchers' side are withholding vital information that endangers all the Shadow Watchers' lives, leaving Tim and Mandy wondering. Can they reveal the truth and protect the nation's interests? Can the team succeed at fighting the enemy and its own side?
When all is done, who will survive? And of the survivors, if Tim and Mandy are among them, will they stand together or be robbed of their future once again and be forced apart forever?

This is the first in the Shadow Watchers series, but has ties to the previous series, Crossroads Crisis Center. At first I thought I was reading the 3rd or 4th book in a series, because there were references to the other couples and their troubles with the terrorist group. I didn't find it detracted from the story too much by referring to previous couples who are in this book. There was a brief explanation by the Tim to Mandy in each case. Although this is my first book by Vicki Hinze, I found it was really good. Suspenseful with a bit of romance. It is a very clean book with no bad language or sex. An easy and enjoyable read that I would recommend. I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review. 3.5 stars
What an action-packed, suspense filled tale! If you like special ops and spy type stories then you will fall in love with this. Mandy is thrown into the world of the Shadow Watchers when someone close to her dies. Danger and threats make her reach out to her ex-fiancé who can help her. Tim fights his feelings as he tries to keep Mandy, and his fellow Watchers, alive. So much danger, intrigue, deception and twists and turns makes this one book you cannot put down! Wonderful and deep secondary characters add to the story and make you want to root for all of them to win. Each character needs to overcome past hurts to see that there might be a chance at love once again. Fast paced story that I highly recommend to the action/romance lovers out there!
*I bought this book in a bundle called "Risky Brides" and have never read anything from this author before.. The story was intriguing and the writing first class... I will read more of her books in the future..
The Marked Bride is a Shadow Watchers Novel and is part of a new series, a continuation, of this group. It was intense, had lots of curves and twists, but I loved the mystery of it. This is Mandy’s and Tim’s story. I don’t want to say too much about the actual story but Mandy had much to work through and deal with in her life. And just when I thought I had it figured out – wham! A new twist. I loved the part where we were allowed into the Shadow Watchers’ inner circle. The depth of the relationships is staggering and it is what I would expect from a group that is “tight”. Of course, I loved Tim, definitely the strong, silent type. I loved the story and will be sure to pick up the next in the series. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was great. Perhaps a little too good. I stayed up until 1:30 AM just to finish it. I had to know who and what happened. The pace was quick and crisp. The characters were well developed and 'real'. The 'drama' was presented in a plausible, realistic, relatable manner. I was impressed. This is the first in the Shadow Walkers series and I can't wait to read more. There were several 'are they/aren't they?', 'will they/won't they?' moments, a couple nice twists, and a definite tension that is maintained through the book. It's clear the characters know each other, indeed have a past together, but it doesn't detract from the story at all, if you haven't read the other series. This book is connected to the Crossroads Crisis Center series. The blurb gives more specific info on the storyline. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll just say this is a clean, well-written drama, with a healthy dose of humor to lighten the mix. I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.
