Miller does an excellent job of introducing her readers to Bliss County. You really get a sense & feel for the town and surrounding area. Miller’s calm, quiet, yet captivating writing style melds with the community that she develops. You can easily picture this small town community and the surrounding ranch-land. Personally, one thing that would have added something to this novel would have been an explanation of what this marriage pact was. Miller tells you who is involved & alludes to it, but never once tells the reader exactly what the pact encompasses. This is a very character driven novel. The main characters, their pasts, and their preconceptions shape the storyline like no other. The entire cast of this novel is very well put together. Readers get a sense of who’s who in Bliss County while really getting to know the main characters. A sense of family and community shines through the entire novel, making you feel right at home. As a whole, this was a great novel and a brilliant introduction to Miller’s new series. I can’t wait to read more.

The Marriage Pact by Linda Lael Miller. I enjoyed this book very much and can hardly wait for the next one. Hadleigh Stevens was coming close to saying "I do" when Tripp Galloway came to stop the wedding. Tripp dodged the blow, hoisted Hadleigh off the floor and slung her over his right should, fireman-style. Ten years later Tripp comes back to town to stay and help his dad with the ranch.

I received the extraordinary, phenomenal, captivating, engaging, well-written Harlequin romance novel The Marriage Pact (The Brides of Bliss County, #1) by Linda Lael Miller free through Goodreads First Reads. Hadleigh is at the altar getting ready to marry Oakley and Tripp comes storming in, puts her over his shoulder, takes her to a diner, and tells Hadleigh about Oakley and his girlfriend and two children. Hadleigh asks him to take her out of town with him and he says he can't because he's married. Hadleigh is more upset that Tripp is married than him breaking up her wedding. Hadleigh comes to a realization that when Tripp had shown up at her wedding, she had hoped it was for true love. Ten years later Tripp's divorced and comes back to town to help his dad out with the ranch and wants to mend things with Hadleigh. When Hadleigh and Tripp start seeing each other, sparks fly off the charts. Hadleigh, Melody, and Bex have a Marriage Pact to work together to find Mr. Right for themselves and each other. I loved reading Hadleigh's story and can't wait to read the next two love stories in the series. Read the romantic, breathtaking, wonderfully written, highly recommended love story The Marriage Pact (The Brides of Bliss County, #1) by Linda Lael Miller.

This novel provided a different twist to a story about friends who became close and concerned about each others daily lives. I found the book a very good read and enjoyed the story to the end.

I really tried to love this book. I kept reading it even though i didn't love it. It was just so slow. Tripp spent the majority of the book with his dad and his dog. Hadleigh spent most of the time with her two best friends and the neighbors dog. They both came to the conclusion they were in love by talking it out with other people. I personally like my couples to spend a little more time together. Let me save you some money; Hadleigh's brother, parents and grandparents are all dead and she is lonely. Tripp's mother died but he still has his step dad who he really does love like he was his real father. Two steamy parts in the last 50 pages, everyone lives happily ever after. (Which were the only redeeming part of this book)

In the past I've enjoyed books by Linda Lael Miller. I found her writing to be entertaining, now however I find The Marriage Pack a difficult read. Not difficult in the complexities of the writing or characters, but difficult because of the main female character. Ms Miller writes of a younger woman (28 years old) as a spineless, whiner, and self-absorbed female, and one I can not relate  too even a tiny bit. I had a hard time just keeping my mind on reading when in actuality I wanted to slap the main female character, Hadleigh, upside the head.  Sorry Ms Miller, but this book just doesn't cute it in my book.

I agree with those who said this a a disappointment. I love Linda Lael Miller's books and have read them all. This one fell way short of her others. I was very surprised. The storyline really had the potential to be very touching and heartwarming. It was too broken up. I realize this was about the marriage pact but there was too much about the friends. Hadleigh's friend Melony was way over the top. (Hadleigh finally goes on a date with a man she has been in love with all her life and Melony sits at Hadleigh's house and waits for her to come home. Who does that?). The ending was fine but could have been a LOT more romantic. For the first time ever when it comes to Ms. Miller's books, I am not sure if I will get the rest of the series.

The Marriage Pact is the first book in the all new The Brides Of Bliss County by the incomparable queen of western contemporary romance Linda Lael Miller. I adored this book and I devoured each and every page, the writing is so well done it's hard to put this book down, it's even harder once you've realised that you've reached the end, and won't get to read the second book till next year. I love the idea of this series, three best-friends who make a 'marriage pact' that no matter how long it takes they will all marry their true loves and have a family. This definitely appeals to Hadleigh Stevens, who is all alone in the world with no family left alive, enter Tripp Galloway back from years away (ten to be exact) running his own private charter company which he recently sold to come back home to help his Dad who's been sick with their rundown farm. Hadleigh and Tripp have quite a bit of history between them, best-friends with Hadleigh's deceased older brother Will, he took it upon himself ten years ago to kidnap her from her own wedding to save her from making the worst mistake of her life, having been in love with Tripp for as long as she can remember, she hoped that maybe they could be together, except for one shock revelation that put an end to her hopes and dreams. So when Tripp finds his way to her door, it's fair to say that Hadleigh is far from happy to see him, but Tripp is determined that this time he will do things right, and convince her that they were made for each other and that they belong together always, he just has to find a way to get Hadleigh to agree. This was such an exciting start to a series, from the gorgeous cover, to the storyline and the extremely loveable characters, this book is one of my favorite books of the year, highly recommended.

I've read every Book Ms. Miller has written. This one is disapointing. First have of book is tooooo long. She repeats herself and characters are buried in self examination. I'd still recommend it, but don't expect it to be one of her best efforts
