Brokenness happens. Tragedy, sin, and the painful choices of others all have the ability to disrupt an otherwise contented life. And as a result of our heartache, we often attempt to fix our own brokenness—with disastrous results.

If you've tried to heal, but keep ending up in the same place—whether the battle is in your heart or out in the open where everyone can see—The Mended Heart is for you. In this book, author Suzanne Eller tells it like it is: people throw quick fixes at you or tell you to pull yourself up by your bootstraps (whatever that means). More important, though, she shares the powerful truth of Jesus's mission as outlined in Luke 4:18-21: He came to set free all those who are oppressed and in need of mending.

You don't have to fix yourself—Jesus loves you right where you are. In fact, He has already completed the work that needs to be done. The Mended Heart will encourage you to trust him, to give and receive grace, and to move ahead even stronger than before—even if others don't move with you.

This is a beautiful book! It has touched my heart deeply. I'll be thinking about it for a long time. Suzanne Eller's book is a must read for anyone struggling with anything; your past, people, even yourself. Eller gives strong Scriptural support and real life illustrations for how we can work to "mend" our heart. This book would be excellent for a book/Bible study, as a gift or for your own personal study. My copy is covered with highlighter and tears. I strongly recommend it!

I found this book to be interesting, compassionate and inspiring. Good for a group discussion or just to read on your own; in either case, Suzanne has a way of teaching you yet still making you feel as if you're talking with a friend. Highly recommended.

Yello people i also like to say yellow people(my versions of hello). Anywho(i like de word anywho) many of you have probably met me but probably unknowingly for i have many names. Maybe you needed advice you probably met Christian girl or maybe you read a story and you saw the name Marie Rivers or maybe you used to chat with me and you knew me as Lena or you read the story of a girl who looked broken you saw the name Crushed heart or maybe you met a cat named snowheart or snow or fire or ice or sun or maybe you talked to someone named ARlover at nocturnal. Everyone of those people you saw or talked to or even hurt was little ole me. I have much to say but with limited space i will just say few things. Now you may be wondering a few things like 'why did she title it the way she did' or 'why the many names' or even 'that person is HER' all these questions and more will be answered (except maybe the last one dont know how to answer that) by the time i finish my "Inrotoduction to the not well known Mended heart". Lets begin with 'why did she title it the way she did'. You probably figured out the Part 1 part and the this is me part but i am sure my reason behind putting my name on there is confusing(no well i have to still tell you tis my way &#12485 ). The reason is simple at times because i have so many "masks" i feel you should get to know them all or i can just do this for someone else. Anywho back to tellin you bout me. I am from Arkansas(no hillbilly jokes and just no Arkansas jokes or you get hurt &#12485 ) i am 14 years old i am confused on the Christian front oh and if you read one of my two stories for the story contest as Crushed heart it was supposed to say gal not gay. I am also a burnner i aint afraid to admit it but dont go runnin to shrinks going "Someone I know self harms" ok. Oh and whatever you do dont mess with me or my friends(my friends mostly i will put up with it for an extent but to much and fear my rath) or you will not like it. Anywho (i warne you anywho is my fav word at the moment) i have been suicidal and i still fight it daily not to mention i hve like 6 friends in total (wait 8 sorry LB and Seqyn) and in reality 3 reasons to live and 12 reasons i would rather die than live. I am broken but i aint fragile i am crushed but not broken(nutshell i can still fight back). I have some issues that will be dcussed later so if i start chatting with you then explode in you face i apolojize in advace my life is a rollercoater that seems to oly go down sideways and upsidedown so i thought i would warn ya. I rarely laugh even though i am a goofball and half the people you see around me are laughing or so close to me they understand my sadness so they are sad. Now i am about to finish but first i need to give credite to 2 people the first person is Haunted Spirit the other person has no name but is known a You or Hey you. They gve me the idea to do this verson of this (hope tat made sense). There are others whose names ore. Gem 3rdkid anna patty and (somewat sadly[i will explain that latter]) MIBNJB. If it were not for them i might have killed myself already miss ya all(except MIBNJB) hope ya are doin fine. Bye see ya latter. (Oh and Haunted Spirit i like noodles)

My first exposure to Suzanne Eller's writing was The Unburdened Heart. What. A. Book! The words of wisdom and healing offered in Unburdened made a huge mark in my life and many women in my church (so much so the study was offered three times.) If you struggle with forgiveness it's a must read. The Mended Heart takes the reader further still in their journey towards wholeness. My copy is dog-eared, highlighted and drowning in stick-em notes. But enough accolades. Let me share just a couple of pearls so the book can speak for itself. "You are not alone, and you don't have to do the work of healing alone." Truth in the very first pages. "...bonds are placed on a person's heart because of what was taken from him or her. Those stories matter, and they need to be told, but what is not talked about enough is that healing can take place." Hope is offered. "Momentum is simply the process of moving forward." This book helps make that happen. My advice...get the book, read the book, and get ready to move forward!

I enjoyed this book. Suzie Eller covers topics like: divorce, death, physical abuse, insecurities & growing up. I enjoyed that she constantly reminds us that God is right beside you! He will redeem you through & in every situation. Through the stories in the book, Eller encourages & challenges us to get out of the comfort zone & invite God in to do His work of healing. We're confronted to deal with the tough issues like hearts broken by the church, our own sin, or sins of others. The time you spend in His presence will gradually help you to be bigger, better, stronger! Just trust Him to mend your heart. Read this book. It will help you.

You don't have to be in a state of hurting, but we all have experienced some hurt at one point or another. This is great read to strengthen yourself as well as have the strength to help someone along.

This is the best book I have ever read on mending a broken heart. It is easy to understand and there is so much great advice. Thank you so much Suzie for writing this book. You have made me look at my actions and reactions and consider others feelings and what they might be going through that makes them act and react like they do. Thank you for opening up my eyes so I GIVE GRACE instead of criticism!! Thank you for helping me to forgive those who have hurt me who were hurting themselves. Thank you for reminding me that Jesus is always there and I am never alone in this journey. I praise God for you, YOU are a blessing and this book is a must read and a blessing also!!!

God can truly mend all broken hearts, you just have to give him all of the pieces. This book is absolutely amazing and has renewed my faith a hundred times over. I not only believe in the power of God, but I unconditionally trust. This book is a must read. I'd also recommend my favorite book, When God Stopped Keeping Score which takes the first honest look at the power of God and forgiveness. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

Suzie Eller did it again with The Mended Heart. I first read The Unburdened Heart and now I finished The Mended Heart. What a blessing to have the privilege to read these books by Suzie. My yellow highlighter runs dry after all my highlights on nearly every page of this book. Suzie shares her own struggles and those of many friends to help you in the process of mending your brokenness.Don't just buy one book. You will want to share this with family and friends. This book could be the greatest GIFT you give someone. Share The Jesus Factor! If you didn't already purchase The Unburdened Heart, get that along with The Mended Heart.  They are a great team together.

We all have broken places in our life stories. Yours may look different than mine, but a broken pot is still a broken pot. Suzie Eller does a beautiful job of helping broken people find help and healing through her words in this book. She showed me that it’s ok to remember and ok to uncover what I’ve tried to cover, and even more than that, it’s ok to seek restoration. This book isn’t just for people who are suffering through a broken period now, it’s for anyone that’s ever suffered from a broken time, and that’s EVERYONE. I give this book five stars for the ease of reading, the real-life stories and applications that we can all relate to and for the way Suzie points every broken piece of our life back to the only One capable of restoring a broken soul. Reading this book is like listening to a good friend lovingly and helpfully pull you back into the Light after being in the dark. I don’t just recommend this book, I urge you to read it. If you don’t need it now, you will need it later and chances are you will know someone who needs what you learn through it, too.
