Holy mermaids I was not expecting to be so touched. The last part of the book had me crying like a baby, but in a good way. Glad I chose a book by it's cover. Beautiful inside and out.

While this book is intended for the YA market it is a good example of a book that is cross generational. Adults that dismiss this genre are missing some truly good literature. Some of my favorite books, ie: Gary Paulsens "Hatchet" and Joan Bauer's "Hope was here" are examples. Meaningful, well written and constructed works imparting wisdom and good acts in a positive and entertaining way. In this book Emily"s teenage angst, fear of parents embarrassing her and peer pressure is timeless. Though written in the language of today it is as relavent now as in growing up in the 60's. Full of life lessons it shows us how despite of a family crisis we often become closer in fact. If you read the last few chapters without being touched and damp eyed, you're tougher than me....
