The Metamorphosis / Proměna: Tranzlaty English Čestina

The light of the electric tram lay pale here and there on the ceiling and on the higher parts of the furniture

Světlo elektrické tramvaje tu a tam lezelo bledě na stropě a na vyssích částech nábytku

but down at Gregor's level it was dark

ale dole na Gregorově úrovni byla tma

He slowly pushed himself towards the door to see what had happened there

Pomalu se tlačil ke dveřím, aby se podíval, co se tam stalo

he was still clumsy with his feelers, which he only now learned to appreciate

byl stále nemotorný se svými tykadly, coz se teprve teď naučil oceňovat

His left side seemed to have one long, unpleasantly tight scar

Zdálo se, ze jeho levá strana má jednu dlouhou, nepříjemně těsnou jizvu

and he had to literally limp on his two rows of legs

a musel doslova kulhat na své dvě řady nohou

Incidentally, one of the legs had been seriously injured during the morning's incidents

Mimochodem, jedna z nohou byla při ranních incidentech vázně zraněna

it was almost a miracle that only one of his legs was injured

byl skoro zázrak, ze měl zraněnou jen jednu nohu

and he dragged his leg lifelessly

a bez zivota vlekl nohu

Only when he reached the door did he realize what had actually lured him there

Az kdyz dosel ke dveřím, uvědomil si, co ho tam vlastně nalákalo

it was the smell of something edible that had lured him there

přilákala ho tam vůně něčeho jedlého

About the Author

He died in 1924, before completing any of his full-length novels. At the end of his life, Kafka asked his lifelong friend and literary executor Max Brod to burn all his unpublished work.
